Evolution of GLOBE
|
With their new found musical style, Globe has released yet another fast paced techno/trance song that is sure to make you want to rave your heart out. Unlike the "poppy" and upbeat style of "Stop! In the Name of Love", Genesis of Next aims towards a more dark trance style. That isn't to say that this song is morose, far from it. Like most of their new singles, the song commences with Marc rapping and the beat kicking in. Soon after, KEIKO begins to start singing. Her voice quality in this song is much better than it was in Stop! In the Name of Love. Her words can be understood (Probably because she speaks mostly Japanese, opposed to the English she sang in Stop! In the Name of Love) and the techno music doesn't drown out her voice. Also, KEIKO takes advantage of her strong vocal abilities and beautifully projects her voice, leaving you to wonder how soo much sound can come out of such a little person. The song spans at almost 10 minutes, which for a trance song is not uncommon. One flaw within the song would be that it has a tendency to get repetative, but not excessively. Also, I wish that KEIKO would have not only just sang more, but would have put even more power into her singing, like she did with Ayumi in A Song is Born. The other song that is entitled What's the justice, is shamefully below Globe standards. KEIKO barely sings in it (Which isn't even that good) and the techno is mediocre, with some interesting parts, but none that would make it a great, or even good song. I do give props to Tatsumaki, who remixed the song. Just from listening to his previous remixes that he has done, you can begin to understand that he is very talented mixer. Globe's new sound may not be heavily accepted by its former fans, but their incentive to constantly change their style, take risks, and evolve as musicians, insures their longevity within the musical industry. Who knows what sort of enigmatic musical direction they may take next! |
