The follow-up to 2007's Genius Party, the 2008 anime anthology Genius Party Beyond is a stunning collection of animated shorts produced by Studio 4C, the animation house behind Memories and Tekkon Kinkreet. The collection's title refers to the great talents brought together for the project, and this sequel release showcases five shorts of very different themes and animation styles that weren't included in the first collection. Given free rein to animate, the filmmakers present vastly different and brilliant works ranging from Blue Submarine No. 6 director Maeda Mahiro's Gala revolving around a meteorite crash in ancient Japan to Parasite Dolls director Nakazawa Kazuto's Moondrive about a lunar treasure-map adventure to find a mystical island of giants.
