June 22, 2008 No Chow, but still great! The sequel to the classic Tiger On The Beat definitely lacks the presence of the amazing Chow Yun Fat, but we do get to have the formidable Danny Lee step in. Still packed with crazy action, comedy and stunts, Tiger On The Beat 2 is a highly enjoyable action comedy that will keep you entertained! Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

(1)Our Price: US$10.99Usually ships within 7 daysJune 22, 2008 A CLASSIC!!!Anyone who hasn't experienced a David Chaing directed kung fu comedy (the Legend Of The Owl is another fine example) then you don't know what you are missing! The Loot is one of the best I've seen, and is way up there with classics such as Young Master, Prodigal Son and Drunken Master!!! See this film. You won't regret it... (1)Our Price: US$10.99Usually ships within 1 to 2 daysJune 22, 2008 Under-rated classic! Why wouldn't a movie from both Sammo and Ringo's glory years be a hit? This fantastic thriller seems to have passed by most fans, or forgotten about by many. And I don't know why! It boasts some great realistic action, gritty drama, and some (at the right moment) humour from the mighty Hung, who plays a character most fans may not be used too. Nonetheless, this is worth seeing by any fan of his, Ringo Lams, or classic HK action cinema! Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

Whiplash (VCD) (Hong Kong Version)
February 24, 2008 Whip crack away!!Not exactly well known in the west, Whiplash is a pretty entertaining kung fu flick, with the beautiful Cheng Pei Pei as the titular character. Its not exactly jam-packed with stunning kung fu, but theres something about it that keeps you watching. Check it out and you'll see what I mean. Its not in the Legendary Collection for nothing... (8)Our Price: US$15.49Usually ships within 1 to 2 daysFebruary 24, 2008 Judo chop!!One of my favourite directors - Johnny To - delivers something unexpected in the form of Throwdown. A fantastically, funny, judo movie starring the handsome Aaron Kwok and Louis Koo! I love it! Shot in the usual moody, amazing, To way, Throwdown is fresh in its approach to the usual HK martial arts film. Well worth a watch - and well worth a buy! Check it out!! Backalley Princess (Hong Kong Version)
February 24, 2008 Backalley epic!!My goodness... What a movie! Lo Wei has a pretty bad wrap due to the nonsense he got up to in wasting Jackie Chan back in the day, but I have now seen enough Lo Wei movies to through a little more respect his way! And with Backalley Princess, its confirmed! A fantastic kung fu drama, with some great comedy, and superb performances from all. In fact, I'd go as far to say this has an almost 'epic' feel to it... Well worth checking out. A classic! Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
Kung Fu Fighter (DVD) (US Version)
February 24, 2008 Waste of talent!!Remember I once said the Douglas Kung/Yeung Pan Pan movies were fun - well, they are - except this one! Its so forgettable I can't remember much about it, but thats also due to the bad plot, direction and fight scenes... Only buy this if its under £1. Such a waste of talent!!! (2)Our Price: US$16.99Usually ships within 7 - 14 daysFebruary 24, 2008 What a film!!Think HK cinema is just all kung fu and gun fights? Then think again... Dog Bite Dog is an amazingly dark and violent movie, that surprises its viewer in every scene and carries fantastic performances from its two lead stars, and co-stars respectively! I don't want to say anymore... you need to put this in your basket now! Well - go on then!! Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

(1)Our Price: US$11.49Usually ships within 7 daysFebruary 24, 2008 Chin Kar Lok does Ninjas!Douglas Kung is becoming a bit of a regular name due to his partnership with kung fu queen, Yeung Pan Pan, and their mass release of cheap and cheerful kung fu actioneers - and Dragon Hero (aka Chinese Heroes) is one of their best! Not just because of the comical presence of the excellent Chin Kar Lok, but because of the excellent fight scenes, decent pace and enjoyable story line. oh yeah, and of course - theres ninjas... Check it out! Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
Fatal Contact (Hong Kong Version)
February 24, 2008 HK's Ong Bak..!Theres a lot of mixed reviews on Fatal Contact, and it seems to be a case of 'love it or hate it'. Me... I love it! Okay, so its not the Oscar winning movie of the year, and sure, the plot isn't anything new - but is that why we watch HK action films? No - but it is a bonus if they're good... Enough negatives!! Fatal Contact is Hong Kongs answer to Ong Bak - regarding the full contact underground fighting, and it rocks!! Nicky Li puts together some amazing, hard hitting fights which do make you reach for the rewind button. Wu Jing is a super star, and this could well be his finest (fight) moment to date. I just hope he keeps it up. The ending is quite different, and a little unexpected - but I like it! If you haven't already seen this, do so now!! Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
Fearless (Director's Cut) (Hong Kong Version)
February 24, 2008 Jets finest hour..?It could well be... Jet Li's last kung fu movie was the quote released with this instant classic (and we can all ignore that). Whether it was a trick to gain more promotion for Fearless, or not, it was far from needed to get people seated for this epic! Playing the master to his character in Fist Of Legend, Jet acts, moves and moves again in one of his finest performances ever. Beautifully directed by Ronny Yu, and featuring stunning choreography from the infamous Yuen Woo Ping, the directors cut of Fearless is an amazing piece of work! Even the original cut, which I first saw, blew me away... but with the DC, there's just something a little different that makes this version extra special. Own it, buy it, steal it, see it... The Cheeky Chap (VCD) (Hong Kong Version)
February 24, 2008 See this movie!!I swear to God... if Jackie Chan had starred in this, it be known world-wide! But it doesn't. It stars Wei Pei (from Jackies Young Master) and is one of the best kung fu comedies ever made! Period! I really shouldn't have to say anymore, except that its a shame not more kung fu fans know about this - Don't be left behind!! Stunning choreography and brilliant comedy make this (yet another) under-rated classic!!! Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

Dragon Tiger Gate (DTS Regular Version) (Hong Kong Version) DVD Region All
(14)Our Price: US$17.49Usually ships within 7 daysFebruary 24, 2008 Who need Marvel?Dragon Tiger Gate was a comic I read for many years, so you can imagine my joy when I heard the awesome team-up of Yen and Yip where putting this together. I had enjoyed the original movie adaptation - Hellz Windstaff - starring Hwang Jang Lee and Meng Hoi, but this modern day version definately wins hands-down. Anyone who has a brain knows that 99% of book and comic adaptations never stay true - usually its because they are so big and the films can only fit so much in, so don't expect a true take on the series. That said, this film definately sets the tone for (hopefully) a series of action packed movies based on the comic! Beautifully directed, superbly choreographed, and showcasing Donnie Yen, Nicholas Tse, Yuen Wah and Shawn Yue in top form, Dragon Gate Inn is an amazing kung fu flick that is miles better than any Marvel or DC movie to date! See it!! Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This)

February 24, 2008 HKs finest!!Hands up who doesn't own this movie... Shame on you! This movie is, and always will be, in my top ten (and I have over 3000 Asian movies). Definately John Woo's finest moment, and I only wish he would return to HK to give us more of the same. Stunning performances from all involved, beautifully shot and literally mind blowing. If you haven't already seen Bullet In The Head - I urge you to buy this now! Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

Rob-B-Hood (Extended Edition) (Hong Kong Version) DVD Region 3
(11)Our Price: US$17.49Usually ships within 7 daysFebruary 24, 2008 Jackie Chans back!I was a bit dubious when I first heard that Chan was going to be rehashing 3 Men And A Baby. Then I heard it would be the return of Chan, Hung and Biao which (as expected) got me oer-excited. Unfortunately that didn't happen... but I'm not complaining! When I first watched Rob-B-Hood (Project BB) I remember thinking that it was one of the best Jackie Chan flicks I've seen in a while. And I still think it is! The team up of the king - Jackie, the amazing Louis Koo, and the hilarious Michael Hui was such a treat. And with the added bonus of Yuen Biao, how could this not be fun! The fights and action are fun, and even though Jackie is slowing down, he stills delivers. The comedy is top-notch, and the whole film is just amazing!! A new classic! You should own this already... Twins Mission (Hong Kong Version)
Twins Mission (Hong Kong Version) DVD Region 3
(19)Our Price: US$10.99Usually ships within 1 to 2 daysFebruary 24, 2008 Worth a look! What do you get when you put Sammo Hung, Yuen Wah, Wu Jing, Tsui Sui Ming, and the Twins in one movie? A big waste of talent! Which is pretty damn unfortunate for Twins Mission, because it has the potential of being a fantastic action flick! That said, it has become a family favourite in our house with its toned down violence and light comedy. You could say its a Disney martial arts movie. Worth a look of course for the stars alone, and it grows on you... Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

SPL (AKA: Sha Po Lang) (Hong Kong Version) DVD Region All
(30)Our Price: US$17.49Usually ships within 7 daysFebruary 24, 2008 What a show!!This, to me, was the film that HK made in a bid to win back the action crown handed to Tony Jaa for his work in Ong Bak, previous to this production. And he well deserved it! But when Donnie, Sammo and Wu Jing hit the screens with SPL - it was clear that HK wasn't giving in that easily. An amazing thriller, beautifully directed with shattering performances from all - SPL should be in every action fans collection!! Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This)
