Scary, funny, and romantic -- good stuff!

"Ghost House" cooks up a mixture of comedy, horror, and romance to create an entertaining if uneven brew. Shipyard worker Pil Gi (Cha Seung Won) has worked hard and saved his money, then realizes his late father's great dream for him -- he buys a house. It is a gorgeous modern home with a spectacular sea view and Pil Gi is thrilled to acquire it for such a modest price. He soon discovers why the price was so low; his dream house is haunted and the ghost is intent on driving him out. The hauntings are genuinely creepy and scary and Pil Gi's reaction to them are hilarious. The ghost turns out to be Yon Hwa (Jang Seo Hee), who was killed in a bus accident while on her honeymoon and now waits for her husband's return in the home they had built. After Pil Gi overcomes his fear of the ghost, he devotes himself to finding out what had become of her husband. This search leads to a wonderfully romantic climax. Cha Seung Won is a wonderfully physical comic actor, throwing himself into the hauntings with a hilarious panic. Jang Seo Hee gives a fine performance as the lonely ghost pining for the husband she loves so greatly. Also effective in a small role is former Miss Korea Son Tae Young as Pil Gi's girlfriend. "Ghost House" is overlong, some of its comedy goes over the top, and it sometimes breaks its own rules about ghostly behavior, but its well-conceived story, winning performances, and wild special effects make it well worth watching. I recommend it! |

First time i have sween Cha Seung Woo in a comedy movie. Thought he would look awkward being a tall guy doing comedy roles but he did justice. Real funny. Amusing. It's worth watching. |

If it wasn't a friend's reconmmendation, I could of by passed this movie in a heart beat. Fortunately I have to say this is probably one of the BEST horror/comedy/romantic movie I ever seen... See how I can't even catagorized this movie cos it's got many elements going on in the mix. Just has an interesting plot and story line thru out the whole film. Jang Seo Hee looks adorable & pitty at times in this film, I thought she was well done in terms at her role. And the other surpised to me was Cha Seoung Won's character development in this film. I never thought a movie can be exsist like this one and actually makes me wanna wirte an review about it. This is definitely an underrated film. An "A" grade movie in my personal opinion. This film is a sleeper of the year in K-films. |
