一段引人入勝的聊齋故事，聶小倩與應采靈。話說，小倩被鬼王陷害，本可利用靈珠還陽，不料鬼婆盜取了靈珠，迫小倩找才子鮮血，供她煉身。一夜，鬼婆命小倩取其書生的血，卻發現那人正是應采靈，為求采靈平安離去，觸怒了鬼婆，幸得姐姐碧桃相救。此時，碧桃托負采靈帶小倩肉身回鄉，待她取得靈珠再回鄉找他們。此事卻被鬼婆得悉，一怒下想將他們消滅之際，天山道人駕到，並與鬼婆大鬥一番。最終，小倩可吞下靈珠，重返陽間。
Based on a famous short story from the legendary Chinese novella "Liu Jai" which was also the inspiration for the classic film A Chinese Ghost Story, Ghost Story is a new retelling of the love that transpired between the spirit Siu-Seen and the mortal scholar Ling Choi-sun. This time, Siu-Seen can actually lives in the human world during daytime, thanks to a magical pearl. But when her master takes away the pearl and forces Siu-seen to take Ling's own life, she must enlist the help of a Taoist priest to destroy the devil and fulfill her wish to reunite with the man she loves.
