Based on the comic by Sorachi Hikeaki, the popular animated version of Gintama was on the air from 2006 to March 2010. Following its conclusion (which the creators promise to only be temporary), animation studio Sunrise released Gintama: Shinyaku Benizakura Hen, the first feature film of the series. Revisiting an arc involving an attack on freedom fighter Katsura Kotaro and the efforts of the Odd Jobs Gin mercenary crew - led by former samurai Sakata Gintoki - to find him, the new Benizakura Hen retains the series' unique blend of futuristic fantasy and samurai-style action. Before fans can get their hands on the new Gintama anime, the Shinyaku Benizakura Hen should be more than enough to quench the thirst.
