Only SNSD album that's worth it
Only SNSD album that's worth it

I'm not a SNSD fan myself but i really did love this album. The Album Itself: Honestly, i was really disappointed as i think SNSD are beautiful girls, but the pictures just seemed boring to me. I would have thought they would have looked much better, and as seeing how it came in square form the pictures aren't that big. The Song Itself: I thought they were great to be honest, but not excellent. I really do love the song 'Genie' as it it quite addicting, the chorus i wouldn't call addicting, but the girls individual parts are really addicting to sing along too. I was disappointed though that it ONLY showcased Taeyeon's amazing vocals. 'Etude' was actually enjoyable too listen, though i hated that they were still doing the cute concept, something about this song reels you in. 'Girlfriend' was the only song i could not stand from this mini-album, as they sing like5 year old girls as i thought they have matured, it was a major turn off and quite annoying. 'Boyfriend' has got to be my favorite song, as it is the most mature song and has a sort of 'Britney Spears' hook that you cannot stop listening too, the most recommended song to listen too. 'One Year Later' shows Jessica's feminine vocals which i completely love and i cannot stop listening too, although i would have wish the other girls would have solos too. Overall, this is worth your money rather than 'Girls' Generation' and 'Gee'. They have matured a lot. If you are a new SNSD fan this is the album too buy to make you more addicted. Although i wished the pictures were a bit better & bigger(longer) and the album wasn't so papery, be careful with it. |

Like many people, I think that Gee was better than Genie, but this song stills nice to hear. The second track, Etude, is a good surprise too, reminds me imediately their first album ! Girlfriend is nice too, but it's not my favorite. Boyfriend is a very sympatic song, nice to hear and energetic ! It's my favorite ! I'm not a big fan of My child... However, the last track, One Year Later (duo with Jessica and Onew), is one the better to my opinion. Jessica's voice is perfect, so Jessica's fans should be never disapointed ! And finally, the cover and pictures inside are very great, the girls are pretty and cute ! (Jessica and SooYoung <3) |

Gee may be a better single than Genie, but the overall quality of other songs on Genie beats Gee. On their 1st mini album, I only really liked two songs - Gee and Way to go. Dear mom was okay, but not that great and Destiny and Let's talk about love were plain sucky. Their 2nd mini album brings an improvement on that field. Out of 6 songs, I liked 5. My favorite song's got to be My child. It's got such a wonderful harmonization and it really brings back fond memories from before Gee craze, when girls were still performing songs like Kissing you and Baby baby. Etude is also a darling song, similar in theme to My child. Cute, but not overly so. Boyfriend has got to be the worst song I've ever heard from SNSD. English lyrics are suggestive and downright degrading ("So many boys wanna give it to me, but I want you, boy give it to me" - hmm, I wonder what they're singing about?). Girlfriend is a very nice song, totally different from their usual style. It sounds very jpop-ish, like opening song to some anime (Sailor Moon! ^o^). One year later is a surprisingly lovely ballad sung by Jessica (or Jassica, seeing as they misspelled her name on the album cover, lol) and Shinee's Lee Jinki. I'm not very fond of Jessica's childish voice but she sounded real good in this song. Genie - nice lead single. Love the choreography, though mv is a bit too much for me. >.< Overall, recommended to fans of genre. |

My wish came true! This was perfection!
| First Gee, now Genie? This album is a must have. If you liked Gee, then you'll love Genie. Genie, the song that Girls Generation promoted is very different from the "viral" songs that have taken over the Korean music industry. You'll love it, and I did too, along with the other songs! |

Good but not great

I havent and I'm not a huge fan of them, however they have songs that sell. Genie isn't half as good as Gee, but still it's a song with a spec rythm that makes you remember it and make you want to listen to it again. I like Jessica's and Onew's (Shinee) song 1 year later, should I call it a sad love song maybe..? They have a more tough image for this one, rather than the cute side they have shown far.. SNSD is on their way to become woman's generation maybe?! |

| I know the hype of SNSD is crazy around the world. I picked up this album because the song "Genie" was too catchy to pass. The problem is that the song "Genie" is the best song in the album. The other songs, like Etude, are good but nothing to write home about. I still recommend buying this album but don't expect a gold bar...more like a silver bar. |

not as good as gee but i still like it. and its definately worth my money too! :D i can listen to genie as many times and i still dont get annoyed.. haha. i cant stop taeyeons adlibs repeating in my head either.. as for the other songs. etude is pretty good. bubblegum pop is back i guess.. but its a very nice summer breezy song.. girlfriend and boyfriend are both alright. nothing much strikes out to me tho.. i quite like my child. its a nice song.. but for some reason it just seems to me like a childrens nursery rhyme.. lol. maybe its the way they sang it. i really like sicas and onews duet tho. nice melody and strong vocals! win win situation! |
