A Piece of Garbage

What would have been a gem is offset by the unspectacular filming of the live Cantonese Opera sequences in black and white. Shot from only the frontal angle and far far away from the stage, very unimaginative, few close ups and far in between. Audio is minimal, save by solos sung by Chan Ho Kow and Lee Bo Ying who plays the same princess character. The rest is a collage of pure garbage with no songs sung by Ng Kwan Lai, Fung Wong Lui nor Law Yim Heng, just a dance sequence by each. Chan Bo Chu only appears at the beginning with no speaking part, just a stage prop. Guest appearance by Yam Bak as part of the audience. |
