A piece to keep !!

I believe this should be Lee's best erotic film. Since today, it is still interesting. The acting by the 3 main cast is great !! Hu Chin and Tien Ni only showed their faces and we can already feel their heat. The bodies are all stand-ins superbly arranged. Chen Ping's appearance was quite a surprise, playing a small part, her acting was stupid and as usual, she bared her breasts. The real surprise is the young Jackie Chan has probably his most important role before he was signed by Lo Wei. He acted quite well as compared to those silly films he made in these last 20 years. |

Amoral unerotic Ribald tale failed to excite

I was greatly disappointed by this supposedly erotic tale made by the once great director Lee Han Hsiang, the "retelling" of this story pandered to the pornographic without being erotic, the sex scenes were suggestive with lots of orgiastic moans and a few bare women's breasts. It was shocking to see Lee had sunk that low to made this kind of "exploitation" fare. He was once intriqued by great literary works and historical pageants, now probably prompted by the Shaw studio to focus on box office receipts, had "prostituted" his directorial talents to this kind of filth ! I feel sorry for all the actors and specially for the actresses they WILL not show this video to their children and grand children as their proud achievement from their youthful days ! |

Authentic Sung Dynasty masterpiece

Director Li Han Hsiang has crafted a meticulous piece of Sung Dynasty erotica for us in this interesting movie. Hu Chin is at her best portraying the infamous Pan Chin Lien.She carries off the role admirably with able help from Yang Chun who is at his lecherous best. I love this man's acting.......he has such a wicked and sexy look on his face all the time even when he tries to look righteous.You will be fascinated by the director's eye for detail. Everything in this movie looks so authentic. Highly recommended! |

An Erotic Masterpiece

This film is a delight to behold for ace director Li Han Hsiang offers us a slice of authentic old China.His eye for details is so keen that even if there is no plot, there will still be plenty to appreciate in this richly textured movie. His tapestry of eroticism is so well woven that every sexual act becomes art. Lead actor Yang Chin fascinates with his myriad expressions. When you watch him act,you know you are watching a master showman. Hu Chin rises to the occasion to match him as the amorous Lotus Pan Chin Lien, the slut who poisons her husband for him. Tien Ni also lends strong support as a love competitor but wisely decides to leave her clothes & dignity on. Not so lucky is Chen Ping who strips for the umpteenth time in a Shaw movie and playing only a maid in this one. This movie comes highly recommended. Make sure you buy the dvd for the fascinating uncut version. |
