From some reviewers, this film gets a good share of unfavorable reviews. I, on the contrary, like it.
As with 'A Hard Day's Night'(1964), starring The Beatles, or 'Patrulla de Valientes'(1968), 'Guess Who Killed My Twelve Lovers' doesn't amount to more than cinematic cotton candy and it's loaded with pop music, but the film does manage to entertain for 90 minutes thanks to Wu Jia Xiang's capable direction and some effort put forth by the actors. Jenny Hu(whose dubious, serial killer character in the film is also called Jenny Hu)has done better movies than this, but I am willing to bet $10 that this is one of her more light-hearted movies in her filmography. In 'GWKMTL', several college students are standed on Lantau Island during a typhoon(BTW, the word 'typhoon' derives from 'tai' and 'feng' in Chinese, "excessive winds", according to my Mandarin Chinese textbook). For some reason, Lantau Island has no lodging. The youngsters brought along their musical instruments and a radio; they won't die of boredom! While listening to the radio, they hear a news report about a woman named Jenny who killed twelve men and she fled from Hong Kong in a speedboat(while wearing an orange bathing suit!). The youngsters, in a Scooby-Doo-esque style, keep an eye out for murder-suspect, Jenny Hu. Li Kun, from 'The Big Boss', co-stars a local who helps Jenny find some shelter on the island. 'GWKMTL' is unabashed and shameless about its silly plot, but if one doesn't take it too seriously, one may have some fun. I do like that 'Come Drink with Me/Golden Swallow' joke where Irene Chen Yi Ling and a female co-star battle eachother with bamboo sticks, although its esoteric nature may fly over the heads of some viewers. 'GWKMTL' is style-over-substance, but it somehow works.

Weak plot and quite silly... if not for Jenny Hu and Chin Han's appearences, this movie definitely is not worthy watching.
