Is Gummy really Yummy?
|
This is the first Gummy album I have brought and like most of my K POP purchases I brought it because: 1. the cover looked good 2. it featured G Dragon and T.O.P…. So how good is it…. Okay firstly although I think the album is good, Gummy’s vocals are as good as any other RnB artist you would care to mention, in fact she is probably one of the best out there but not all the tracks in this CD show Gummy’s vocals to their full glory. WARNING sorry if I mistranslate some of the song titles, only just learnt hangeul and so I still make translation mistakes J Songs I don’t like are (04) Saranghaji Malayo, (08) Ttakkeum, (09) Ibyeoli Anijil these to me sound a bit dated against the other songs on the album. Now onto the good stuff …. 02 Clap Your Hands A grinding baseline combined with Gummy’s husky chorus vocals and Perry’s YG brand of rap that literally just gets you clapping your hands. 03 Mianhaeyo My favourite song. Gummy starts of with some angelic vocals before moving into her soulful, powerful style. This is perfectly combined with T.O.P’s gritty rap style and the catchy chorus that just gets you humming along … its no surprise that this song was nominated a few times in the Mnet Festival 2008!!!! You also get a remix version at the end of the album which to me this better than the original adding a electro baseline … great for thumping out your car stereo!!!! 05 Geouleul podaji Spanish guitar + melancholic, powerful vocals + rap = a reallllly good track!!!!! 10 I’m Gonna Miss You Classic RnB Ballad, catchy, mellow, relaxing As with all K pop CD the packaging is fabulous. The bookle is nice and thick with loads of photos of Gummy while the case itself is made of super strong cardboard with a thick plastic slip case …. very fancy!!!! Overall if you like the YG style of music, appreciate solid vocals, enjoy a vast mixture of songs from RnB, rap, ballads and clubby hits then Gummy is a great addition to your K pop collection. |

Gummy has one of the most soulful voices I have EVER had the pleasure of hearing. A person with a voice like that must have a beautiful spirit, and I believe she definitely has one. I've been listening to Kpop for years, and I consider her to be one of THE BEST talents out there, despite her popularity not being as high as pop divas and boybands. Because Gummy is different, she stands out in the most amazing ways. She has a gift and she knows how to use it in the most cunning ways. Her vocal control is just astounding. When it comes to this album, I believe this is the best yet. The hit single "Mianhaeyo" is a great song and I'm happy that it was the PV song pick, but that is merely a taste of this albums soul. Gummy breathes life into her albums, and its hard to find albums that are alive in this pop obsessed music industry where producers are more worried about selling albums quickly than making them of the best musical quality...just thought I'd say that. |

My girl Gummy can sing, folks. This is some serious talent here. Gummy is bold and brassy on the blazing dance tracks, velvety and vulnerable on the soulful ballads. Indeed, she serves up a different vocal sound for each song on this album, the sign of a true artist. One of the real strengths of this album is how well it integrates hip hop with its dance tracks, some of which are dazzling throwbacks to the '70s disco sound. I love the two latin-flavored numbers and I'm knocked out by Gummy's soulful singing on the beautiful ballads. This is state-of-the-art pop and I recommend it very highly. |

I never heard about Gummy before until my friend told me and the first song I listened to was "Clap your hands" and "Mian he yo" (Sorry) and they really caught my attention. I didn't think that I would listen to this CD but then I just could not help it since I listen to her songs everytime I go visit my friend. I finally bought the CD and I'm in love with it. My most favorite song is number 8 "Ta keum", others are 2. "Clap your hands", 3. "Mian he yo", 5. "Kuhooleul bodaka", etc. I recommend this CD if you truly love Korean music, not because of the look but the singer's voice, Gummy is a great choice along with SG Wannabe, Younha, Kim Jung Kook etc. You will not regret buying it. =^^= |

I love this album! After three years of absence, Gummy returns in a highly anticipated atmosphere. All the songs on the album has a deep meaning to it. My favorite song was I'm Sorry ft. T.O.P. |

Gummy's Back

Gummy is definitely one of the most talented K-pop vocalists. Her title track (?), Mianheyo is a sad song and yet doesn't sound like a ballad. This album has a lot of great YG artists featured, too. But YesAsia made a mistake with the tracklist. It's not featuring Ferry, but rather Perry. |
