GUMX Vol. 3 - Old

Touted as Korea's own Green Day, Korean punk trio GUMX has made Japan their main playground since signing with the Japanese record label Toy's Factory in 2002. Formed in 1996, GUMX debuted as GUM, which bears the self-deprecating meaning of "chew on us like we're gum". But in 2002, the band which consists of Lee Yong Won (vocalist/guitarist), Lee Geun Young (bassist/vocalist), and Choi Gun (drummer) decided they were no longer just gum, adding the letter "X" for "no more" to their name. Though their popularity continues to soar in Japan, the group has yet to garner a formidable fanbase in Korea. But that is about to change as GUMX presents their latest album Old, hoping to penetrate the Korean music market. Interestingly, Old which saw an earlier release in Japan has, as of January 2008, sold more than 10,000 copies (and still counting!). Filled with pop melody and punk rock beats, Old promises to offer something different for those tired of listening to the same old music.

한국의 그린데이 검엑스 신보 전격 출시

2002년 데뷔 이후 일본 활동에 주력하며 일본 내에서 최고의 인기를 누리던 실력파 밴드 검엑스(GUMX)가 3집 앨범을 들고 3년 만에 컴백, 본격적인 국내 활동에 돌입한다. 이번에 발표한 신보 [OLD]는 국내 발매에 앞서 이미 일본 최고의 메이저 음반사인 토이스 팩토리(Toy’s Factory)의 러브 콜을 받아 지난 1월 일본에서 먼저 발매되었다. 발매와 함께 1만 장 이상의 판매고를 올리며 히트 행진을 기록 중에 있다. 성공적인 일본 컴백에 이어 곧바로 국내 무대를 준비 중인 검엑스는 이번에 발매될 앨범으로 국내 활동 진출의 교두보로서 검엑스 밴드의 사활을 걸고 조심스럽게 진행 중이다. 일본 활동에 대한 소문으로 국내 팬들에게 보다 쉽게 다가가기 위해 라이브 무대를 통해 인사를 할 예정이다. 이미 앨범 활동이 본격적으로 들어가기도 전에 펜타포트와 ETP 라인업으로 러브콜을 받으며 현재 3집 활동에 주력할 채비를 하고 있다.
