Delirious over-the-top action rules the screen in Gun & Rose, a triad gangland action film from director Clarence Fok (Naked Killer). Suave triad killer Alan (producer Alan Tang) is the adopted son of a powerful Taiwan triad family, and has gained so much favor within the organization that he outranks the head's own two sons Simon (Simon Yam) and Bowie (Bowie Lam). The jealousy and intrigue hit a fever pitch when Bowie makes an attempt on Alan's life. He fails, but is killed by his own father for planning the hit! Simon goes ballistic and stages a coup, and Alan has to flee to Hong Kong to escape the heat. He hides out with his crippled wife Monica Chan, but when Simon's pet assassin (a charismatic Leon Lai) comes gunning for him, Alan makes a righteous return! Andy Lau co-stars as a lowly HK hood who teams with Alan for his big return to the underworld. Featuring a romanticized vision of the triad underworld, Gun & Rose has earned a sizable fan base thanks to its stylized gunplay and acrobatic action sequences, which are dazzling and over-the-top even by Hong Kong Cinema standards! Alan was an adopted son of Lung Yat-fu who was a key person of Taiwan triad societies. Once, Lung Yat-fu was attacked by some enemies. In the hospital, Alan met a nurse Monica Shum, she donated blood to save Lung Yat-fu, but he became handicapped. Alan was chosen to be the successor by his father, this made his brother Simon decided to seize the leadership from Alan. Simon ordered Leon to assassinate Alan. Alan shipped to Hong Kong with Monica, unfortunately Monica became paralyzed. Alan met Andy and his sister Carrie. Andy was a rascal but he is a man of righteousness. Leon was sent to Hong Kong to deal business, he met Alan coincidentally. Alan knew he couldn't escape, he went to Taiwan with Andy to start the last war with Simon.

It's OK
| This is just another action movie with a so so story. A kinda cheesy action movie. I like some of the gun-play action, but not as good as Hard Boiled or Fulltime Killer. |

Awesome movie to KEEP!!!!
| This movie is one of THE BEST action/comedy/triad movie I've ever seen. Besides awesome action with better than average story plot, this movie also groups several MEGA stars in HK film who's excellent performance you don't wanna miss, their names like Andy Lau, Simon Yam, Alan Tan, Leon Lai etc. I have seen this old movie 8, 9 years ago on recorded VHS, since them I have been trying to buy it online, but always found it was outof print, THANKS yesasia for making it available again!!!! I am definitely buying it. Another one on my wish list is shogun and little kitchen starring Leon Lai and yuan biao...hope it becomes available soon. |
