Between ruling the box office with his two Umizaru films in 2004 and 2006, director Hasumi Eiichiro tickled hearts and sides with the uproarious yet inspiring baseball comedy The All-Out Nine - Field of Nightmares (a.k.a. Gyakkyo Nine). Based on Shimamoto Kazuhiko's popular manga, this over-the-top effects-happy youth film follows the bumbling adventures of an underdog high school baseball team as they make an impossible bid for the nationals. The usually cool Tamayama Tetsuji (Freesia, NANA) delivers an all-out hilarious comedic performance as the unrelenting team captain, alongside television comedian Tanaka Naoki and popular actress Horikita Maki (Always - Sunset on Third Street).

At All-Out High School, the motto is "Go all out or die!", and it's the latter fate that awaits the baseball team if they can't get their sorry act together. The team's embarrassing losing record is a mighty thorn in the side for a school that prides itself on victory. When the principal (Fujioka Hiroshi) threatens to disband the baseball team and hand their precious field over to those intolerable soccer players, determined captain Toshi (Tamayama Tetsuji) recklessly promises to take the team to the national championships. But it's going to take nothing short of a miracle to get this team of misfits into winning shape!
