I wish, I could give this DVD a perfect 10/10 rating. It is perfect in every aspect a movie can have. Sadly, the English subtitle is quite disappointing, plenty of typos and misspelling. The producer should put more efforts in creating fault-free subtitle. Because of the rising China's political and economic power in the world stage, many people from various backgrounds would be interested in knowing China past and the common means of communication is obviously English...

Definitely a must see! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
At first I was the only person interested in this series and my girlfriend was totally not interested. After watching the first couple episodes with me, she got instantly hooked with this series. I have seen Yong Zhen Dynasty and I have to say that the director Hu Mei's directing and sights have greatly improved over the already great Yong Zhen Dynasty. Don't miss this great series.

Excellent grand epic. Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
This is one of the best historical dramas I ever seen in the recent years. Second only to Romance of Three Kingdoms. Followed histories so closely. Great educational value. Highly recommend to everyone.

Powerfully Moving Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
This is definitely a series worth watching. It's much more than just a tv series, it's a triumph of the human spirit. The series conveys to the viewer a sense of respect, pride, and sympathy. Although there are no tear jerking love stories or eye catching special effects, the rich tapestry of the human experience itself as painted by this series is enough to move me. The series itself is fairly well produced, with both the on set and on location shots well directed. The plot was fairly intriguing and the transition between stories was also smooth. Some people might find the series a bit slow in places and perhaps exaggerated in others, but all in all, I would have to say that it is something worth watching.

Must-See for Chinese History Enthusiast Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
Unexpected good quality in the cinematography, v. engaging plot and choice of actor/actress. A drama that require thinking and arose your interest in Chinese history/culture. All the other recent drama with "ancient" settings seems child-play in comparsion.
