Kamio Yoko's romance manga series Hana Yori Dango, a.k.a. Boys Over Flowers, has made it to screens in various incarnations since the mid-90s, most notably as a long-running anime series and as the immensely popular Taiwanese drama Meteor Garden. In 2005, TBS adapted the comic for television once more, and hit ratings gold. Produced by Setoguchi Katsuaki (Good Luck!!), the series features a fresh young cast led by Arashi's Matsumoto Jun and rising star Inoue Mao. Inoue, who plays the drama's spunky heroine, won the Best Actress Award at the 47th Television Drama Academy Awards for her performance, while Matsumoto picked up the Best Supporting Actor Award. Hana Yori Dango was so popular, the cast returned for a highly anticipated sequel which began broadcast in January 2007.
The tough, hardworking Makino Tsukushi (Inoue Mao) attends an exclusive school. She finds her shallow, privileged classmates unbearable, especially the notorious F4. Rich, handsome, and arrogant, Domyoji Tsukasa (Matsumoto Jun), Hanazawa Rui (Oguri Shun, The Neighbor No. 13), Mimasaka Akira (Abe Tsuyoshi, Rough), and Nishikado Sojiro (Matsuda Shota, A Cheerful Gang Turns the Earth) are the kings of the school and no one, not even the teachers, dare challenge them. No one, that is, except Tsukushi. Angry at their rudeness, Tsukushi tells off the members of F4, bringing a world of trouble upon herself. The proud and persistent Tsukasa falls hard for the feisty Tsukushi, but she shares a connection with the quiet and sensitive Rui. Caught between the two friends, who will Tsukushi choose?

Love like This

Yes, it`s cheap. Yes, it`s got a fair bit of broken English in its subs. Yes, it`s on VCD, a format that I fear is on the way out (I am old enough to own a fair bit of movies on VCD and less on Blu-Ray.) but it is THE BEST ITEM I`VE EVER BOUGHT FROM THIS SITE hands down. I love, love, love HYD. Okay, I admit I`ve never read the manga, but it doesn`t stop me from enjoying this show to the fullest. All the actors and actresses are fantastic and you feel their love for the show and for eachother. (I loved the scene on one of the two discs with extras where Inoue Mao got a bunch of roses from her on-screen lover Matsumoto Jun and got so surprised `cuz he`d already finished his scenes and she didn`t think he`d come at all to see her finish...what a perfect ending to the filming of this super - romantic story!) And my god, the story...it`s a wild ride indeed, full of crazy surprises and all kinds of emotions, from fury to hate to black envy to crazy love. I can never get enough of this show and I recommend it to everyone who wants to be challenged and moved and maybe also a little bit changed by this great, great series, yes! with all my heart, always!!! |

One of the bests!

One of the best dramas ever! I even bought it, and I still have the whole 2 seasons on my laptop xD. I really loved it. And I'm a big fan Hanazawa Rui (played by Oguri Shun). I also loved him in korean version. Ah, this movie is really something, and with english sub, I can understand it all *__*! |

One of the Best Dramas Ever!

I bought this a while back, but I forgot to review on it. I remember Hana Yori Dango being the first japanese drama I ever watched and it also became my absolute favorite. I love the chemistry between Matsumoto Jun and Inoue Mao. For a VCD, the quality of the video is pretty good. I was so worried that the subs would be broken english, but it wasn't! There were some parts where I went, "Huh?!" so it was time to use my awesome memorization powers to think back what the fansubs were back when I watched it online. Anyway, I would totally recommend this. I gave it to my friend to watch and it turned out her 16 year-old brother liked it and he's a football player! My other friend borrowed it and in the end her mom enjoyed it. :P |

Question about Eng Subs

I'm just wondering to those who have purchased this item how the subtitles are. sometimes when you get products from hong kong the subtitles are just cut up english and not actual proper sentences. I'm hoping that this is not the case with this product as I'd like to purchase it. Hopefully the subs are as good as those of the fan subs when it first came out. Also is the picture clarity good too? Thank you soo much for anyone who answers to this post! |

Everything looks good and clear. How the video is seems to realistic but I still enjoyed this show. Everything else is really good. I am happy with this product because not many Japanese series are subtitled and I really love this show and it is subtitled...I am happy. THIS SHOW IS A MUST BUY!!!! |
