Last summer Jay and Wesley, two young boys of the Taiwanese duo Awaking, impressed music lovers with their unique style of mixing folk music into hip-hop and rock in their debut album. This summer sees the release of their second album Happiness Download which is just as astounding. The rock music makes this album even more dynamic than the previous one!
The male version of Jolin Tsai's "Sky" performed by Awaking in Happiness Download has caught many people's attention previously. Music lovers could only see the back of two boys in the MV for "Sky", widely circulated in the internet, but their unique voices alone are enough to charm the viewers. Recent hit "Winds of Summer", on the other hand, creates a comforting breeze in the hot summer days of 2005.

Best New Group 2005!!

I first heard their music from their music video that was showing on TV. I thought, "wow, this song is pretty good and hype-y". It makes you want to go crazy like the two guys in the MV and shake your head along to the music. After that MV, I just forgot about this group, thinking that it must be one of those one-hit wonder groups. A few days later, I see another MV with a different style of music but starring the same two guys. The lyrics to this song was really meaningful... about living your youth with no regrets, or something along those lines. That really impressed me, so I had to find out more about this group. It was hard at first since their MV only showed their Chinese group name. I think this group goes by their Chinese group name more than their "Awaking" one. Nonetheless, I found samples of their music from this album and listened to them all. Not once was I bored from their incredible style of music. The whole time, I just wanted to bob my head while listening to the tune of their music. My personal fave is Track 2 "Bikini". I really recommend this group. I can predict them getting the Best New Group award. Yay!! |

i can't wait to listen to their 2nd CD. when i brought their 1st CD, i didn't know what to expect. but the CD was great. i love every song in it except one. all the songs have varies style and the CD was totally worth it. i havn't listened to any song of the new CD yet, but i can't wait to get it. |
