YesAsia Editorial Description
The Happy Ghost was a popular movie series of the 80s about the ghost of a Qing Dynasty scholar wreaking havoc in modern day Hong Kong. It helped turn filmmaker Raymond Wong into a comedy star, and launched the careers of former teen actresses like Loletta Lee, May Lo, Fennie Yuen, Charine Chan, and Bonnie Law.
In 1991, the fifth and last installment of the series made an intriguing casting choice: it featured Kris Aquino, then First Daughter of the Philippines, in one of her earliest film roles. In the film, her dog, Magic, saves the "Happy Ghost" (Raymond Wong) and is granted a wish. Magic's desire to become human comes true, but for 49 days only, during which the human Magic (also played by Wong) unwittingly becomes the romantic rival of his mistress' boyfriend (TVB star Roger Kwok).

What's with everything just Mandarin? Lots of TV series and movies were supposed to be Cantonese in the 1st place. So why cant we just have both like we use to? |
