Acclaimed Chinese singer-songwriter Sa Dingding stunned the world with her ethnic music that blends Buddhist mantras, Tibetan chants, and electronic music. Her 2007 debut album Alive features a self-created "lingo" that has its roots in baby talks and that helps her music transcend language and cultural barriers to win international recognition, which includes the BBC World Music Award in 2008. Made with top producer Marius de Vries, Sa Dingding's second album Harmony is coming out early 2010 to take listeners to a mesmerizing land of mystery. The much-anticipated album comes with 11 tracks, such as the first single Ha Ha Li Li (the title being a reference to heavy breathing sounds) and its remix by Paul Oakenfold.

Sa Ding Ding's "Harmony" album comes out of the gate with a snarling bass and slithering, slinky sound and soon snags the listener for good when Sa starts purring. This must be what the serpent sounded like in the Garden of Eden -- irresistably enticing! "Harmony" harnesses all the great potential Sa Ding Ding displayed on her "Alive" album and takes it one step further. The elements basically are the same, a heady mixture of Tibetan, Mongolian, and pop music, but this time a harder rock and funk are added to the brew to give it a sharper edge. Sa's unique blend of Buddhist chants and whispery sex appeal are intoxicating. Also worthy of mention is the spectacular, eye-popping video for the song "Ha Ha Li Li". Don't miss this one. |
