Real fun CD
The songs on the CD were fun to listen to while driving Taylor to school. She really got a kick out of the ABC Rap! We are going to send the CD to Michael (aged 5). We sang several songs at the top of our lungs. Brings back memories of when I was a child!!! Ha ha ha ha ha ha Domo arigato!!!! |

A great interactive family sing-along !
Hayami Yu celebrates motherhood will a wonderful album that will have you singing right along. A few of the cuts will even get you dancing a jig, clapping your hands, or tapping your toes. Many of the 24 songs are in both English and Japanese as one of the singer's goals is to have this CD help kids learn English. What better way than with nursery rhymes, lullabies, animal songs and family sing-alongs! The album encourages direct interaction with the songs -- their melodies and words. My favorite cuts are the originals like "Oh! Sakana," "Goodnight my Angel," and "Rainy Days and Kisses." I certainly could be biased, but I think the best cut is the one I wrote for Yu Hayami. I put a bluegrass and Dixieland feeling into "Dotchi de naku no kana?," a cute little ditty about how animals sound differently in Japan vs. America. Why does the dog go "bow wow" in the U.S., but he barks with a "wan, wan" in Japan? I never have figured that out. Japanese bees say "bun, bun," and the American variety prefer "buzz, buzz." Some of the songs, including this one, have karaoke tracks of just the instrumental accompaniment which you really sing and howl with. Every Japanese family with younger children should have a copy of Yu Hayami's "Let's Sing Together!" In fact, English-speaking families could even learn some Japanese from this album too. The 28-page CD jacket has lyrics and some beautiful photographs also. (Joe Ross, Roseburg, Oregon) |
