GREAT! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
When I received this album I honestly listened to almost nothing else for about 2 months! I still listen to this CD a lot.

All of the songs on this album are excellent! There were a few that stood out though: all of the great songs from her singles: Falco, Mermaid, Garnet Moon, and Mahiru no Tsuki.
Frame (track 12) was a memorable song, actually writen by Hitomi Shimatani herself. My favourite song from the whole album from a single or not was Taiyoushin (track 10), I could listen to that song all day long and not be bored.

The DVD however was disappointing. It was nearly an hour long and half of the time you were just watching Shimatani sit there in a chair in front of a white background and she keeps brushing her hair out of her face, it was distracting. It would have been much better if there had been PVs instead.

Good album Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I think this is a strong album, and somewhat similar to her "crossover" album, because of the more orchestral arrangements. One of the previous reviewers said that it shouldn't have Garnet Moon on it, because that song is on "Crossover". However, on "Crossover", it was the crossover version; on "Heart and Symphony" its the original version.
One important thing to notice is that this album is very different from her earlier music. Her earlier music was more like teen pop, but now it's more mature (like what she said on her concert dvd when talking about the crossover album). If you like her old music rather than her newer music, then you probably won't enjoy this album. However, if you aren't a big fan of her old music (like me), but like her new music, then you'll definitely like this album (not to say that you can't like both old and new music).
My only complaint is that the orchestral arrangements are kind of simple. They sound really nice, but it's kind of a shame to go to the trouble of hiring a really good orchestra, but then just using really simple arrangements.
And you should all ignore the review by the guy who was complaining about the DVD, because he obviously didn't read the product description. The DVD is a documentary, rather than just the music videos. So if you don't know any Japanese, it probably wouldn't be worth getting the documentary.

A very heartful album. Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Despite the small quantity of tracks, Shimatani Hitomi has outdone herself in this album... it's conceptual, powerful, and serious. I really love how the imaginative titles of the songs, as well as the common orchestral compositions, really tie the album together and create this untouchable magical atmosphere to it. Every single song is worth listening to, and every track conveys a different emotion. They're all really visual too... as if each song brings me to a different part of the world and different time of the world. From Europe to Asia, from Renaissance to distant future, from nature to people. It has done all to me. If you are looking for an album with a beautiful voice and potential songs, you won't regret buying Heart and Symphony.
