Popular singer George Lam gets caught in a love triangle in Heart to Hearts, a hit romantic comedy from director Gordon Chan that went on to spawn two sequels! George Lam is Alex, a music producer who moonlights as a choir teacher. He takes a shine to one of his students (Vivian Chow in her debut), but her overprotective mother (the hilarious Carol "Dodo" Cheng) thinks he might be trying to date her daughter. But the misunderstanding gets ironed out, and Alex begins to see the mother instead - which bothers Alex's ex-girlfriend (Rosamund Kwan). Suddenly, the ex wants Alex back, leading to a tug-of-war between the two women and a final, fateful decision from Alex! The chemistry between George Lam and Carol Cheng, and a star-making performance from Vivian Chow highlight Heart to Hearts, but it's the winning combination of comedy, romance, and drama that make this one of the best Hong Kong romantic comedies of the late eighties. Followed by the sequels, Heart Into Hearts and Hearts Against Hearts.
