High School Musical: China (DVD) (US Version) DVD Region 1

Embraced by legions of fans around the world, the High School Musical franchise started as a TV movie premiered on the Disney Channel in 2006. The phenomenal hit went on to win a handful of awards and spawned two sequels, the latter of which moved into multiplexes in 2008. In summer 2010, Disney co-produced a localized spin-off movie in China, which features lots of dazzling song-and-dance sequences like in the American originals, but with unique Chinese elements in terms of story, music, and dance choreography.

Helmed by renowned stage and film director Chen Shizheng (Dark Matter), High School Musical: China held a grueling casting session in order to find the six best young talents out of thousands of candidates for the lead roles. In the end, Zhang Junning, Ma Zihan, Yuan Chengjie, Gu Xuan, Liu Yanchen, and Lin Qi emerged to play the high school teenagers who chase their dreams in an inter-school singing competition. The inspirational romance musical also co-stars singer Sun Nan and xiangsheng artist Guo Degang (Just Another Pandora's Box) in major supporting roles.
