Hissatsu Urakagyou is a PS2 assassin title set in the Edo era in ancient Japan. Players take on the role of Kyoujirou Tatewaki, a young doctor by day, but an assassin by night! Hissatsu Urakagyou allows players the opportunity to play both sides of Kyoujirou's double life. Players spend the day exploring the town and caring for patients. But at the same time, Kyoujirou is collecting information, and looking for any assassination assignments from the townfolk. Then, when night arrives, Kyoujirou sets out for the kill! Kyoujirou is accompanied by his stepfather, Doujun Tatewaki, and a character called Genji. Both characters don't handle any killing, though - that's Kyoujirou's job, and the player is given a variety of upgradable weapons to help Kyoujirou do his job.

勧善懲悪本格時代劇アクションゲーム。時代劇風の一話完結でゲームは進行。オープニングで悪事が始まり、昼の江戸を駆け回り情報を集めていくと“恨み”の度合いが高まり、仲間と裏稼業決行へと進行。夜に悪党の居る本丸に乗り込み闇に紛れて暗殺すると、エンディングテーマが流れ一話が完結となる。時代劇さながらの必殺攻撃シーンは圧巻！特別出演として、キャラクター声優に俳優・京本政樹氏を起用。
