電影三個故事組成，講述戲中的四名主角回家過年吃年夜飯途中所遇到的趣事。Karen Neo (梁智強)和兒子阿明(阿牛)正搭乘旅行巴士回吉隆坡準備與親朋戚友們吃團圓飯。沒想到旅行巴士開車沒多久，阿明就把安眠藥當暉車藥吃了；接著，Karen 為了車票和Mindy起爭執，又和一德士司機Zool為了一瓶風油發生口角。Mindy跟身為名廚的父親Daniel高師博(李國煌)吵架後，便一氣之下肚子跑去吉隆坡找母親。Daniel由於忙於準備年夜飯給文化部長而忽略了女兒Mindy的感受而導致了兩人的關係破裂。另一邊，Jamie(林慧玲)與新婚丈夫阿文(黃文鴻)在吉隆坡，阿文的父母家準備吃年夜飯。Jamie向來都不注重華人傳統典型年輕新加坡人。由於對華人傳統一知半解，Jamie在阿文家與親戚們發生了許多衝突，不只鬧了許多笑話，還差點搞砸了整個年夜飯。
