Hong Kyung Min Vol. 9 - Keep Going

For Hong Kyung Min, 2008 marks a remarkable ten-year milestone in his long-running career as a singer. Though his passion for live music and acting has taken him to other venues besides the music stage, he has always managed to return to his roots of singing. Here, in his latest ninth album, the artist stops to reflect on his last decade of achievements, but keeps his engine running for all the excitement waiting in the wings. Dorawa, dorawa, dorawa ("Come Back, Come back, come back" - Track 1) is Hong's first attempt at releasing a dance number as an album's principle track. A fresh new take of 80s funk revamped into retro-style dance music, the song features a delightful blend of Hong's trademark husky vocals and hip-hop duo Mighty Mouse's sweeping harmony. The singer also jams with Park Jung Ah of Jewelry in an exotic duet number entitled The Way (Track 2), composed by Kim Tae Hyun who brought us Ivy's 2007 smash Sonata of Temptation. Also leaving a distinctive footmark in the album is Mola seo da ("Did You Not Know?" - Track 3), a song that will jug up old memories for those with past scars, along with two themes songs "To the end of the world" and Gamsa ("Thanks") from the dramas Byul Soon Geom and New Heart, respectively.

다양한 음악 장르를 아우르고 있는 홍경민이 9집 keep going에서 6년 만에 댄스곡을 타이틀로 자신의 음색에 꼭 맞는 경쾌하면서도 품격높은 곡들을 발표했다. 타이틀곡 “돌아와 돌아와”는 80년대 펑키음악을 현대적으로 재구성한 복고풍 댄스곡으로 홍경민 만의 거칠면서도 파워풀한 보컬이 유감없이 진가를 발휘한 곡으로 떠오르는 슈퍼 신인 “마이티 마우스”의 피처링 가세로 곡의 완성도를 높힌 수준높은 작품이다. 그동안 주로 발라드곡을 발표해온 스타 작곡가 조영수가 홍경민만의 음색에 맞춤형으로 만든 “돌아와 돌아와”는 중독성 있는 멜로디로 한번만 들어도 친숙해지는 곡으로 음악성과 대중성을 동시에 만족시킨다.

sub title "the way"는 유혹의 소나타를 작곡한 김태현이 만든 듀엣곡으로 쥬얼리 리더 박정아와 호흡을 맞춘 특이한 멜로디 구성은 주위에서 쉽게 찾을수 없는 이국적 정취가 물씬 풍기는 뛰어난 곡이다. 3번 트랙에 수록된 김종세의 “몰랐었다”는 한번쯤 이별의 아픔을 겪었던 사람들이라면 아련한 추억여행을 할수 밖에 없는 마력을 갖고 있다. 그 외 god의 “니가 있어야 할곳”의 배진렬, 하하 “너는 내운명”의 박덕상, 뉴하트“감사”김진환 “tonight"이승길,“내가 그렇지뭐”안영민등 촉망받는 작곡가 12명이 참여 댄스곡을 비롯 발라드 락등 여러 장르의 곡들을 수록함으로써 모든 장르를 소화시킬수 있는 국내 몇안되는 뮤지션중 하나인 홍경민의 음악적 재능을 한층 돋보이게 했다. 또한 드라마 별순검 O.S.T"세상끝까지“가 완곡 형태로는 처음으로 공개 됐고 뉴하트 OST"감사”가 새로운 버전으로 편곡 재탄생했으며 결혼식 축가등에서 사용할 수 있도록 “감사”MR이 제공된다.
