I've always admired Yuki Kajiura's work.. and it's great to see her still at work. Inoue Marina has a beautiful voice! I love Ballad and Houseki. They're so beautiful. The music is great! I really hope Inoue Marina comes out with an album, instead of just singles. Yuki and Inoue make a great team! |

Yuki Kajiura and Marina Inoue make a good team

Houseki is the ending song of Le Portrait de Petit Cosette. Ballad is not listed on the OST. Nonetheless, her voice is very good. Houseki gives a dark and mysterious feeling, with the song picks up near the end. Ballad, on the other hands, gives a quite feel, since the lyric does start with 'silence in the night (rough translation)', the best part about Ballad is it avoids the mistakes done by other songs. Japanese lyricists tend to include English words in their lyrics, however, not all singers can pronounce the word correctly. In Ballad, Yuki Kajiura translate Ballad to katakana "barato", and Marina Inoue got the word right. If you like Yuki Kajiura, a deeper voice like Marina Inoue (she is the voice for Cosette in the anime) and dark, silence tone of music, then it is a good buy. You won't regret it. |
