Excellent! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I just got mine in the mail! ^_^ I love Zhang Li Yin's voice. I've been waiting avidly for her debut and I'm proud to call myself a fan.

I know everyong says she doesn't deserve the name "Chinese BoA", but I see it differently. Everyone has different singing styles. BoA has a strong pop voice and Zhang Li Yin has a sort of strong gospel voice. So, it's not really plausible to compare the two. I hate criticism. I like BoA, but I'm not a HUGE fan, but you don't see me bashing her music and comparing her to someone like Utada Hikaru and saying that her voice doesn't even compare... I think it's harsh. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. I'm tired of criticism. That's all I'm saying.

Anywayz...

I had to get this edition so I could have the PVs! I missed getting the Timeless single with the PVs, so I order the album with the PVs. The product is nice, so I recommend this to new C-Pop fans who love mixes of ballads and pop.

Excellent debut Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
Zhang Li Yin's "The First Album" is a memorable debut and a great promise of things to come from this exciting young talent. Equally strong at singing R&B, ballads, and dance numbers, Miss Zhang possesses a forceful mezzo-soprano voice with a wide range. While I found her voice to sound a bit harsh when I played her CD in my car's stereo, she sounds terrific when heard through a good set of earphones.

For me, the real standout tracks are "After" and "One More Try" (tracks 6 and 10), but the fact that the different reviewers on this page cite a wide variety of favorite tracks correctly indicates that there are no real clunkers on this album. I suppose that my least favorite tracks are "First Love" and "Y Why", simply because Miss Zhang tries some Mariah Carey-ish vocal gymnastics that exceeded her grasp.

I can recommend this album without reservation. I am eager to see what the future holds for this bright new star.

Pretty good (n_n) Customer Review Rated Bad 6 - 6 out of 10
You know what I really love about Chinese artists? They come out and alot of them have already-pro voices despite being new!! It's just a Chinese blessing, I suppose! Hehehe! This girl is...she's so..cute! Just original and simple in so many ways. Down-to-Earth...all-around lovable!!!! She's a sweet girl with a nice voice and darling precious personality!! (^.^) I don't really think her voice is as outstanding as alot of people say...and...well..I don't think she deserves the title "Chinese BoA" either...because she's her own person and artist. She's not like BoA in any way I don't think. n_n'' I just don't see it except in her silly-shy personality! But-she is a sweet girl that I'm glad to see appreciated. I think she ever bit deserves a listen from anyone. She's may not be the best, but who knows?? She might just be a new favorite artist for YOU! (n_n)-V hehehe!!!!!

It was worth waiting for... Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
I've only recently started to listen to Zhang Yi Lin's music. Of course there were the older songs (Timeless and Y), but I never thought they measured up. I mean the songs were catchy and they were okay, but there were times I just wanted to stop the song. That's not to say her voice isn't good, I actually think she has a lot of talent, but for when listening to Timeless and Y her voice was so nasal. I could barely stand it!

In this cd, her voice is so much more confident! No more forced notes! Well sometimes it still sounds a little nasal, but she has improved so much since her debut. My favorite are 4,5,7,9. All in all, the cd was well worth the money and the wait.

My sister and I love this album. One of my favorites this year. Ri In has a lot of talent, people really shouldn't compare her with BoA. They are two distinct styles. Ri In is a lot more R&B and technique based and BoA had more jpop/dance style songs. I find Ri In's voice to be more unique and definitely less nasally. The songs in this album are all pretty addictive and timeless, probably suit everyone's ears. Can't wait to hear more from her.

Simply, Zhang Li Yin.. Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
After a year of waiting, Zhang Li Yin has finally released her long awaited album. This album consists of many genres that would suit everyone's taste and people of all ages. With SM's great composers, Zhang Li Yin's fresh yet powerful voice and, of course, the help of her fellow SM family, they're just few of the reasons why this album should be on your must-buy list.

As a huge fan of her, I wasn't at all disappointed with this album. Honestly, I was not such an enthusiast for slow-paced songs, ballads and the such but after listening to her album, I was introduced to a new genre which I think I'm soon going to adore. I Will, a remake of SES song, showcases Zhang Li Yin's vocal as she sings every note with power wrapped in emotion. Another recommended track from the album is Believe in Love. I personally can't get enough of that song and on how it emits a sweet, passionate but still, a bittersweet feel when you listen to it even without knowing the lyrics.

So yeah, everyone, you'll love this album and if you're one of her fans like me who's awaited for some change, the diversity of the genre in this album will not disappoint you at all. To those kpop fans and cpop fans who wants to discover a budding talent, I recommend this album to you all. Zhang Li Yin may still not be the best but she's got the potential to be one of the best there is. She's not the Chinese Boa. She's not any of the things she's being compared with. You'll realize that when you listen to her sing. SHE'S JUST SIMPLY ZHANG LI YIN/JANG RI IN - the girl from China who's still reaching for that star and wants everybody to listen to her voice.

Must Listen, Hot Shot Debut! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I am so glad that SM is giving Zhang Li Yin a chance in the Chinese market. Honestly, it's safe to say that she IS one of the BEST voices in the Asian music industry. It's not only rich and soulful, but also has depth that carries through her songs very well. She's very R&B, which is uncommon in Asia and some listeners might misinterpret her sound as "nasally or pitchy", but her voice is rather fluid and unique, and I can really feel her emotions when listening to her songs. After all, her album is one of the top sellers on YesAsia right now in both the Korean music section and the Chinese music section. This is not to mention that she's only an ‘89er (19) with lots of room to grow and improve, especially on her high note parts.

When news of Li Yin's album was getting out, I was worried about how she would do in her fast paced songs. But I think her two upbeat songs in this album, "One More Try" and "A Flame For You", are both very catchy to listen to. My other ballad favorites are the title track "I Will", "Happiness at Left Shore", and "Xiang Xin Ai"/"Believe in Love". "Timeless" and "Why" are also in this album, which is another bonus. The two duets she did with SM trainees are pretty good too, although I definitely think their voices deserve better songs. I've been playing this album on my computer for days and my parents even enjoy listening to it. Overall, this debut album did not disappoint and is A MUST BUY.

As an avid Chinese music fan, sometimes I question the quality of the music being released onto the market. Nowadays, it seems a lot of artists become popular for their look instead of their songs or talents. While charisma is important, I don't think it should overshadow the talent part. As ambitious as this sound, I really hope Li Yin will be able to catch people's attentions in the Greater China area and really change the industry and inspire QUALITY music.

A letdown Customer Review Rated Bad 1 - 1 out of 10
I figured this album would be great considering everyone's title for Zhang Li Yin as "The Chinese BoA". Let me just say that just because SM Entertainment trained her hard from a young age like they did BoA does not make her "The Chinese BoA". When you give someone a title such as that, you must know people will compare. Zhang's voice is not near as good. One minute, she will be very nasaly...the next, she's deep and soulful...then, falsetto or shouty. Her voice is all over the place and the comment of "one of the most beautiful voices" is clearly overrating. Shame on SM Entertainment, for trying to produce artists like BoA on an assembly line. Teaching amateurs at a young age some interesting vocal disguising techniques and a few poplock moves doesn't make them deserving of such a title.

Sorry Zhang, but you're just not worthy to be called "The Chinese BoA". Hopefully, they'll find you are more fitting nickname.
