Vocal Battle (First Stage)

This album is a compilation of theme songs and background music used during the episodes of Initial D First Stage, but sung by the voice actors behind the main characters. Tracklist/characters: 1. Space Boy ~ No One Sleep In Tokyo (Takumix) - Dave Rodgers, Edo Boys, Takumi Fujiwara 2. Don't Stop The Music - Keisuke Takahashi 3. Back On The Rocks - Takeshi Nakazato 4. Night Fever - Itsuki Takeuchi 5. Don't Stand So Close - Shingo Shouji 6. Maybe Tonite - Mako & Sayuki 7. Black Out - Ryousuke Takahashi 8. Kiseki no Hana - The Takahashi Brothers 9. Rage Your Dream (lover's mix) - Kouichirou Iketani & Mako Satou 10. Around the world (Dave Rodgers mix) - Takumi Fujiwara & Natsuki Mogi 11. ...and...secret track - Natsuki Mogi Most of the voice actors are actually quite good singers (with an exception here and there). They performed the cover songs quite well, although a few adaptations were made to some of the instrumentals and lyrics. Overall though, the CD is pretty good to listen to if you're buying it purely for the sake of music. On the other hand, Initial D fans will probably delight in hearing the characters coming to life in music form. I found 'Kiseki no Hana' by the Takahashi Brothers particularly enjoyable, along with 'Don't Stand So Close' by Shingo of the Night Kids. Itsuki's vocals weren't so good, but this could probably be overlooked if you take into account the good vocals on the rest of the album. |
