Definately a film to watch! Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
I made the mistake of watching this film shortly after breaking up with my girlfriend. I really wasn't scared, frightened or shocked by what I saw in the film; however, I felt miserable for days afterward about this movie. I do credit it for giving me a reason to go back and work things out with my girlfriend and get back together... Thank you Leslie for doing that for me!

I admit there were "dead" parts in the movie where it seemed to lag. Sure, some of the effects aren't up to "Hollywood" standards. However, I still believe that it's a really good movie compared to what else is out there. I would even say it holds it's own to this day, five years after it was made. There is no effort to make sure a sequel can be made or that the ghosts come back to haunt someone else, like in most horror films. This is just a film that carves it's own nitch and tells it's story.

I must say that the psychological aspects of the characters and how they interacted with each other was definately well done. You really could pick up on the central themes of the story, which I wouldn't say was all about "ghosts"; but pain, loss and making amends with others. Some couldn't do this, like Yan's apartment manager. However, the central characters were able to at least try. For me, when Jim was on the rooftop with Yu for the final scene, I really could understand what he was going through and it felt so real that I did forget it was a movie I was watching.

Now when I watch it (it's only one of three foreign films I own) I really do treasure it as it is Leslie Cheung's last film. However, now it's more bittersweet as it seems somewhat that his personal deamons showed up in this film. It is truly a loss not to have him around... RIP Leslie Cheung.

Loses momentum Customer Review Rated Bad 3 - 3 out of 10
The first 30-45 minutes of the movie shows potential for a good scare, which included some good creep out moments. However it is when the story re-centers itself around Leslie's character that this movie begins to fall apart. Leslie's character's haunt actually saps the scare out of the show & as the end unfolded with a poorly costumed ghost, it became laughable. Acting/performance was top notch but almost seemed in vain since half the viewers (at least in my camp) were stifling giggles, rolling their eyes or taking bathroom breaks during the conclusion. You may want to "pass" on purchasing this DVD.

a let down Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
The beginning of this movie is mysterious, gloomy, and visually stunning. The pace of of the story is near perfect with most facts hidden from us. Even people's faces are darkened and underexposed to make the world that is shown to us, even smaller. All these components work together to create the proper questions such as 'who is this girl? is she gifted or cursed? what is going to happen to her in the minutes to come?' What we are shown in the next few scenes is the continuing masterful direction and acting, plus some of the more effectual frightening scenes in this movie. I was intrigued and horrified with a lot of questions and I was anticipating the further development of this character hoping for a climatic twist in the story.

Here is where the plot drops into a dismal abyss and turns into a love story (with a happy ending too)that consists of rehashed material. Suddenly she is cured, and the plot is thrown heavily onto Leslie's character. This time, it is without the masterful skill that was shown to us in the beginning. 'His' ghost is not really all that frightening especially when it is overused to the point that I was making fun of the poor girl with the pizza glued onto her right cheek.

This movie starts off great, but the script runs dry and unfortunately, so does the movie. The acting is credible throughout and that was probably the only redeeming quality which binded me to continue watching even though I knew that all the tricks and surprises were used up in the first 40 minutes. Inner Senses was set on cruise control on the straight highway when the curvey road ran out.

Good movie... Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
First of all I have to say this is not a knock-off from "The Sixth Sense" nor "The Eye." I used to think that it was but it wasn't. "Inner Senses" is more of a psychological movie and it has a good plot & twists. I personally don't appreciate both The Sixth Sense and The Eye too much but I found Inner Senses to be very interesting as it focuses more on characterization and the issues about whether or not that ghosts really exist. Also it's great to see solid performances particularly from Leslie Cheung and Karena Lam. The ending is ironic and disturbing to watch considering what really happened to Leslie in real life...it was a big loss for HK film industry and everything won't be the same as he's gone...anyway, all in all...this is a solid film (though it isn't not too scary for a "horror" film) Definitely worth watching!!

A good psychological movie Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
This film is very good. If you like a good psychological movie to get you thinking about ghosts and spirits then this is the one to watch.

At first when I read the film description that mentioned someone being able to see ghosts, I instantly thought this was a HK version of Sixth Sense. However, after watching it, it is totally different to that movie. It's interesting to see how the story explained the reasoning for Karena's character being able to "see ghosts". As for Leslie, he gave a great performance in his last film. The HK film industry won't be the same without him.

Great Actor, Great Film Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
When I first saw this film, I loved it! Very atmospheric and scarey. Leslie's acting was superb as the troubled Dr.
But I feel so sad now when I watch it, knowing that Leslie is gone.
Leslie was THE first chinese actor that captured my imagination when I saw 'A chinese ghost story' and ever since I have been a big fan, but to think how it all ended was tragic.
I will always remember Leslie for all of his amazing films and music. No matter what, we will always see Leslie as the baby-faced star who lit up the big screen with his amazing performances. His memory will never die, he will live on in our hearts.
