Perennially unlucky Haname (Aso Kumiko) is left lonely and listless when she loses her job, then her boyfriend. Furthermore, her mother (Matsuzaka Keiko) is lying in the hospital after nearly drowning to death searching for a pond kappa. In the midst of the gloom, Haname finds an old letter that reveals her real father to be someone named Jinchoge Noburo. She follows the letter's address to a dinky antique shop run by Denkyu (Kazama Morio), who may or may not be her father. Keeping her identity a secret, Haname stays on as a shopkeeper, fascinated by the shop's myriad junk and her maybe-father's strange spiels. There may even be romance in the works in the form of spiky-haired shop regular Gus (Kase Ryo). Is her life really turning for the better, or is this another swamp waiting to swallow her?
