Best friends Hyun Joon (Lee Byung Hun) and Sa Woo (Jung Joon Ho) were recruited into the NSS (National Security Service) together by Seung Hee (Kim Tae Hee) and Chul Young (Kim Seung Woo). After finishing their first mission together, Hyun Joon is sent on a solo mission in Hungary, but things go terribly wrong after a shocking betrayal, leaving Hyun Joon to be presumed dead. One year later, the two Koreas are on the verge of reunification and Hyun Joon returns to the NSS, out for revenge on the people who shattered his life. His target is a secret organization called "IRIS" that is interfering with national security and reunification.

Top 707 agents Kim Hyun-jun (Lee Byung-heon) and Jin Sa-woo (Jeong Jun-ho) are blood brothers who swore to trust each other and unchanging friendship for life. They stand out an dget noticed by the National Security System (NSS) and become the top agents. They meet agent Choi Seung-hee (Kim Tae-hee) there and both fall in love with her. But Hyun-jun and Seung-hee become close and Sa-woo fights to hide his feelings for Seung-hee. One day, Hyun-jun and Seung-hee are immediately sent on a mission to Hungary with Sa-woo. When they successfully finish off their job with immaculate teamwork and are celebrating it, a message arrives to Hyun-jun asking him to meet in secret.

Baek-san (Kim Young-cheol), an executive of NSS who had been waiting for Hyun-jun orders a solo mission. Despite the tight protection of bodyguards. Hyun-jun succeeds his mission. But before escaping, Hyun-jun gets wounded by Chul-young (Kim Seung-woo) and Sun-hwa (Kim So-yeon), his targets' head security bodyguards. After an intense, suffocating chase, Hyun-jun succeeds in escaping and hiding out in a house. But later he is shockingly betrayed by his most trusted friend, Sa-woo. After getting a bullet wound from Sa-woo's betrayed, Hyun-jun tries to escape with Seung-hee's help. However, Hyun-jun ends up losing seung-hee. And his car, while being chased by the agents, also explodes. They are both misled into thinking that the other had died. Hyun-jun gets saved by an unidentifiable 'Voice' and learns the secret identity of a group called, 'Iris'.

1 year later, with the two Koreas about to the reunified, Hyun-jun makes his return. After spending a nightmarish life of being betrayed and losing everything, Hyun-jun rerturns to get revenge on those who threw him into the living hell. With the help of the President, Hyun-jun returns to his post in the NSS. Starting a fight against the secret society called, 'Iris' which tries to interfere with reunification, Hyun-jun Now puts everything on the line for the battle of his life.
