Island Etude Original Soundtrack (OST)

Directed by City of Sadness cinematographer En Chen, Island Etude follows a hearing-impaired college student's bike trip around Taiwan. Starting from the southern city of Kaohsiung with a pack and guitar on his back, the student, played by charismatic newcomer Tung Ming Hsiang who is hearing-impaired in real life, follows the coastline, encountering both friendship and hardship on his seven-day journey. The film vibrantly captures the natural beauty of the island's landscape and the many faces of Taiwan. On the long road between the cities lies a hardy Taiwan, rich in culture and character, that only locals see. Heartwarming, inspiring, and thoroughly engaging, Island Etude is an ode to Taiwan and to the relentless human spirit.

The Island Etude soundtrack is as varied and vibrant as Tung's many encounters on the road. The earthy film score, composed by noted musician Cin Cin Li, complements the film's scenic, adventure-filled journey. The soundtrack is a hearty mix of ballads, folk songs, and instrumentals, with contributions from EchoGS, Li Yi Ching, and Chang Huan Jie among others. The soundtrack ends with the song "Pacific Wind" (Track 20), sung by Taiwan's folk music legend Kimbo Hu.
