It Had to Be You is a light romantic comedy, sweet and touching. Ekin and Karena appear as lovers on the silver screen for the third time after Heroic Duo and The Floating Landscape. Previous collaborations allow them to perform naturally in front of the camera as a perfect match. The film also features Wu Bing, who stars in a Hong Kong movie for the first time. If you want to be amused by gorgeous stars in a light romance, it has to be Ekin and Karena in It Had to Be You!
Restaurant supervisor Jill (Karena Lam) has a handsome boyfriend Chi On (Wu Bing), but she is just his backup girlfriend. She knows she is the other girl, but her hope for being his one and only has never ceased until he changes his "formal" girlfriend once again. All her anger goes to her co-worker Jack (Ekin Cheng), who appears to be a womanizer but indeed shares a similar unfortunate romantic situation of being the backup boyfriend of an airhostess. Knowing that both are victims in romantic relationships, Jack and Jill no longer spar with each other and a liking between them start to develop...

No one wants to be the second place, but they got no choice, Jill is Chi On's other girlfriend, but she never gives up and believes that she can get the first and only place in his heart. However, she gets into confuse when Chi On broke up with his girlfriend and got a new one, Jack thinks Grace is his future spouse, but Grace has had a boyfriend with seven years already which makes him feels frustrated. Jill finally knows that Jack is encountering the same hardship as hers. They became friends and encouraging each other to fight for their loves by all means. During the process, they understand that their "special one" should be.....

Loved it!
| I really loved this movie! It was so cute and adorable! Karena Lam is sooo sweet I just love to look at her even as a female =) Ekin is quite cute in this movie and also very funny. Despite their age difference, I think they have a lot of chemistry and I definitely wouldn't mind seeing them in another romantic comedy. I really recommend this if you like love stories. I really do. After this movie, I've become a fan of Karena Lam also a fellow Canadian ^^ |

A very cute romantic comedy. I think all Ekin and Karena fans will be happy about this movie because they do have great chemistry together. I've had enough of Ekin co-starring with the "Twins" all the time... Karena is so cute in this movie, especially when she plays her charade games :) The story is also enchanced by a very strong supporting cast, Eric Tsang plays a greatly emotional part. |

| This movie is outstanding. It is a cute romantic comedy film. The reason I first watched the film is because the restaurant scenes were filmed in my uncle's restaurant! But I'd have to say the film is very good, apart from that fact! My family and I enjoyed watching it very much! |

It had to be you as a nice movie showing love in a view which people sometimes might experience..loving your friends.. its a okay light comedy and love story.. Karen lam always adorable..well suited movie for her and also character.. anyway..just watch it, its very nice..lol.. im sure you will like it.. |
