東京の軽演劇を長く支え、俳優として、またTV司会者としても高い評価を受け続けた日本を代表するコメディアン・伊東四朗。本作「社長放浪記」は、伊東70歳の節目に行われた記念公演である。脚本は「古畑任三郎」「THE 有頂天ホテル」の三谷幸喜。演出は劇団SET主宰でありタレントの三宅裕司。この豪華なスタッフ陣に加え、出演も伊東以下、佐藤B作、山口良一、中村メイコなど芸達者で個性豊かな顔ぶれが揃う。伊東扮する社長と部下たちの掛け合い、名人芸は抱腹絶倒間違いなし。森繁久弥の「社長シリーズ」を彷彿とさせる、ちょっと懐かしい昭和の香りのする爆笑喜劇となっている。
