delightful viewing
I am not a fan of the Cathay films and do not go out of my way to buy or view them. This dvd was delivered to my doorstep and hence I had no choice but to view it. I must say it gave me an afternoon of delight. I had my apprehension as it was after all in black and white and produced by a company I deemed inferior to Shaws. However all this did not matter once I pressed the PLAY button. Who is this mysterious alluring Helen Li Mei? She acted so well and lipsynched quite perfectly. Complemented by Julie Yeh Fung, both actresses transported me back in time to the 60s in HK when life was much simpler and people happier. Here's a slice of life back then. Do have a bite.......it's delicious! |

Julie and Helen
This movie has songs that were popular in those days, some by Julie Yeh and some by Helen Li Mei, although Li didn't sing herself in the movie. She ultimately recorded two of the songs from the movie. This may not be a great movie, but just to see two glamorous actresses together is worth getting it. Li Mei and Yeh Feng harmonized so well, both in songs, dances and in their appearances. |
