１５８８年（天正１６年）１月、出雲の国から大阪へ出稼ぎにきた百姓の娘たちの踊りの一座の中に１６歳の阿国はいた。その阿国を見物客に交じり注視するのは、大村由己梅庵（織本順吉）。関白秀吉の御家来衆である梅庵は、阿国たちを大事な客をもてなす余興として、屋敷に召し抱える。そして、そこで阿国は鼓を打ち鳴らす三九郎（境雅人）に出会う・・・。
