Hidden Jem
Hidden Jem

Jade Valerie is undoubtedly a hidden jem to the western world. She has one of the best pop voices in the industry, writes her own (frequently beautiful) lyrics and music, and is just plain goregous!!!! Yet for some reason, despite her albums being in the English lagngauge she has yet to release her music to western audiences!!! Now I have that off my chest I can review this album! Its is important to note that this is a mini album being only 8 tracks long however it definiatley leaves an impression!!! There isn't a bad song on it but there are a few songs that really stand out to me, in particular Goodbye. This album is quiet different to her Sweetbox work as the the music tends to have a heavy base line and a almost clubby feel to it. Also her lyrics are often quite raw and dark. This album is a must for any Jade fan as it gives you the chance to see a whole new side of this talented artist!!!!! |

Just plain fun!

I've been a Jade Valerie fan for a while (from her sweetbox days 'til now). Jade and Roberto Rosan (aka Geo)has never failed to impress me album after album. Always creating new sounds in different ways yet the same. This is her re-debut in her music career, only by dropping the name before Jade Valerie and keeping the same music alive. Jade's lyrics has never been written in such a way where you can follow catchy lyrics and they are very addicting (both sound and lyrics)! Not to say of course that her past works have never been fun at all. Tuned Up especially is very fun while Just Another Day gives a steady latino styled beat and is awesome. Lyrics were really written well and well thought out. Jade's lyrics are just growing album after album and they have never been so fun to listen to! Goodbye and Just Another Day is probably the only 2 songs that were more in the 'serious' tone and lyrical wise. I've never heard such lyrics before by Jade and they are a must hear. I just find it slightly discomforting that Goodbye, for such a beautiful song has the "F" word in it. But what do I know? These lyrics were written out of Jade's experience and we'll never know how painful they were to have that word be in there (and yes, this album does have swear words though only less than half the album has it). Jade also leaves a nice little sweet message at the end of the booklet. Jade Valerie since then til now has been (as of March 15th 2008) underrated and still is. The world needs to know her. This album definitely opens up a new chapter of Jade's music and the direction is definitely going up. And yeah, $24.99 for 8 songs and one music video is definitely pricey when it comes from importing but it will surely be worth your money. May this album help you realize the awesomeness of Jade Valerie. |

Well and truly Out Of The Box
Well and truly Out Of The Box

As the title suggests, this is the debut 'mini'album from Jade Valerie. It's hard to listen to it and forget that this used to be the frontwoman of Sweetbox as it's completely different from what fans probably expected. This album introduces us to almost a new Jade, almost like she's throwing the restraints of her former self and singing how she really wants. Fans might be surprised by the lyrics (Uh La La & Show Me come to mind) but this doesn't remove the beauty of the songs, but she still shows her softer side with the beautiful song that is Goodbye, the album's final track. Also included on this album is a full english version of the song CRUSH, originally a duet with Korean sing Baek Ji Young, which is simply a little fun song that's allowed her to let her hair down so to speak. Overall, the album showcases what Jade truly is capable of and what is likely to be the norm as she embarks on her solo career. Hopefully previous fans of her will accept her in her solo status as well as finding new ones who previously didn't know who she was. Fantastic precursor to the highly anticipated full solo album. |
