LISA's first solo single "move on" was very similar to the type of music that she used to do with m-flo... but this song has a rockish flavour to it unlike anything i've heard with LISA's voice in it. I like the song, but m-flo fans and fans of LISA's first single probably won't like this big change too much. I also must complain that people are writing reviews and giving low scores simply because the record label, Avex Trax, has been putting CD-protection on it's recent releases. The reviews are supposed to be about the music, not what the label puts on the CD. As long as I can still play the music in my CD player, I have no problem with the protection. I was not disappointed one bit! "Free & Easy" starts as a ballad and the piano is very beautiful. Then the next verse begins in a burst of upbeat music. The song is reminiscent of year 2000's excellent Christmas song, "M," but not so much that the songs sound too much the same. I love Ayumi and this is just proof that she's not losing her touch. The single includes only 2 remixes, which makes "Free & Easy" Ayumi's first single that didn't have at least 10 tracks since 1999, but they are good remixes nonetheless. I don't think many people will miss the remix overload. Many people are also concerned about the copy protection that the CD has. Honestly, it's not a big deal. This isn't the first CD that ayu's label, Avex Trax, has made with the protection. Each copy-protected CD has it's own player embedded within the CD as a data track. When the CD is put into any drive, the player automatically opens and starts playing. Instructions are included (in Japanese of course), but they aren't needed. It's as easy as Windows Media Player to use. As long as anyone has a Windows computer, the CD can be played. Furthermore, if the drives are new enough, CDs can even still be ripped!! My drive can still rip these tracks into perfect quality mp3s. Although I do not support the copy protection, it isn't something that I cannot live with. I recommend this CD to every J-music fan. For this reason, ayu has maintained her Japanese superstar position for some time now. Since the release of her second album "LOVEppears" back in '99, I have been one of ayu's biggest fans. The album starts out with a beautifully done track "I am..." and quickly moves to the instrumental "opening Run." "Connected" is one of my favorite songs on the CD, being done by the ever-famous System F. The album then moves to upbeat tracks including the singles like "evolution" and "NEVER EVER." After the interlude track, cleverly titled "taskinlude," the album moves to slower tracks, like "Dearest," one of my absolute favorite ayu songs of all time. The "Endless sorrow ~gone with the wind ver.~" is nicely done, even though I personally prefer the Original Mix from the single. However, it doesn't stop there. When Endless sorrow finishes, keep the CD in your player and wait about 30 seconds for the upbeat rock-flavored "hidden track" entitled "flower garden." This is a great track as well, with it's catchy chorus and great guitar riffs. Ayumi never ceases to amaze me. This album is proof that she deserves all the popularity she has. HAL consists of HALNA (vocals), Atsushi Satoh (music, keyboard), and Toshiharu Umesaki (keyboard, guitar). This album is great. it's one of the best i've heard all year. The only problem i have with HAL is most of their songs use the same instruments and can get boring, plus HALNA gets all the credit and hogs all the CD covers. But the CD is so good, it still gets a 10 from me. HALNA is often seen as copying Hamasaki Ayumi, but I happen to love her music aswell, and HALNA does not copy Ayu. August 18, 2001 19 no natsuI have to say this is a very interesting song from the unusual KAB. it is definately one of the best songs i have ever heard by this artist. The guitar used in the song is amazing and the vocals are penned perfectly. Something interesting about this single is the picture book that is included with the lyrics. It's very original to have the lyrics of the song actually illustrated! The pictures definately aren't..say, Leonardo DaVinci, but nice nonetheless. This song is great, especially coming from a not-so-known artist, I'm surprised KAB.'s singles and albums don't sell many more copies than they do. hehe...I happen to know the person who says it sounds like Hamasaki Ayumi's "M"...and I couldn't disagree more. I love this song. Chara has always had an original style that differs from any other artist in Japan. I love this single and reccomend it to everyone!!! March 29, 2001 A Very BEST!Ya...this is a great collection of singles form Ayu!!! Plus, the newly recorded tracks are GREAT! I am TRULY disappointed that it didn't beat "Distance" in Oricon the first day of release!
