about the movie Jan Dara.......
This film is basically about a young boy being tortured by his father for causing her mum to die when he was borned. He grew up and later using forced sex on a woman whom is his father's (wife). The father got a bad stroke after he saw his son having sex with his wife. (which his son has long being wating to get even with him for mistreating him). This story is coupled with numerous sexual content which might let buyers decide what they want ans what they are looking for. Enjoy..... |

What's the background of Khun B as a character?
Christy Chung's character, Khun B (Boon Leung) was portrayed as a so-called devout (at least believing) Catholic in a predominantly Buddhist country. In terms of realism, most minority practitioners of a religion would be conservative to a degree and therefore wouldn't exactly go to the lengths of consensual perversions that Khun B promoted. In two scenes, her religion, a conservative one at that, was displayed. The first scene that indicated her Catholicism was when she was "welcomed" to her new home by a Buddhist prayer-ritual for blessing her home. In her living room was a crucifix. Somewhere towards the and of the film was the second explicit display of the character's religious faith - she had a rosary in her hands and was praying. As it is, most minority practitioners of any religion who are in the midst of a sea of adherents of another religion would usually guard their actions. The concubine status (or was she a legal "second wife???") of Khun B just didn't match the scenario pretty well. Obviously, from the characters' name, she was supposed to be a Sino-Thai... But then again, I though Sino-Thais were predominantly Buddhist? Was she supposed to be one of those members of the relatively recently Catholic Chinese who come from Bangkok's Chinese quarter (where a French Missionary Church and Convent School is found)? If so, then she most probably wouldn't have become a Thai Buddhist's lover... As a Catholic, and therefore a Western-oriented person, the taboo she might have gotten herself in would have probably been a dalliance with a married Westerner. I don't know... I'm just spewing out random thoughts here. |
