June 12, 2010 excellent!I would say even stronger than their debut album. The title track really starts the album off beautifully. The lovely packaging again reflective of the music inside, though this time no multi-lingual lyricbook. Other songs I loved were Electric, Close, 사랑없이, 흐르게 둔다. Of course also, 서울은 흐림 with Han Hee Jeong. And I really love the hot breathy utterances in 다섯개의 자루 . I am so curious as to what they are up to and if there will be a third album. Though I can slake my greed and sustain myself with just these two. I hope to see them sometime in the future.

Yoon Son Ha - Love You (2CD)
May 21, 2010 pretty good compilationAs far as ballad compilations go, this collection is good. It did include two of my all-time favorites (보고싶다 and 사랑에 미치다). And also introduced me to some new favorites like Kiss (performed by Lee So Ra) and 그녀 performed by Kim Hyun Jong. This is a compilation of female ballad artists and includes some of the best names in the business (as you can see above). I suppose for eclectic value they also included Rollercoaster, Cherry Filter and Loveholic which shows me that this was something directly precisely to my age demographic. I really enjoyed this compilation and love to listen to it when I have the house to myself. It brightens the room even while saddening the heart.

Dong Bang Shin Ki Vol. 2 - Rising Sun
(61)Our Price: US$13.99List: US$18.99Save: US$5.00 (26%)Usually ships within 1 to 2 daysMay 21, 2010 title track makes the albumSince H.O.T debuted in 1996, there had since then been a long-standing tradition that boybands should premier first with a 'dangerous' and thereby masculine image created by rock-influenced or hip-hop-influenced serious songs/ coupled with a soft-plushy image using sweet gooey ballads. Such was the way until about 2006, I would say. This album was constructed for such a purpose. Rising Sun is, all in all, a decent album. The song itself, Rising Sun, is really the pièce de résistance and my main motivation for purchasing this album. Song and video together it is a masterful contribution to the world of pop music. It is in my opinion, one of the 10 best songs from the last decade, from any genre anywhere. And any who fail to see that, I daresay must be deaf. Dangerous Mind, was kind of the version of Rising Sun before it became Rising Sun and really is kind of weak and uninteresting. (And if you can remember, after the Rising Sun video dropped, it spawned a slew of imitations by no means as memorable). The remaining songs are mostly ballads, most recognizably Unforgettable and One.
My expectations, due to the title track, were rather high for this album.
Though they were not completely met, I still have to commend the writers of this song. It is mouth-watering good music.

May 11, 2010 someday we'll fall in love...or will we?This is actually, as it boasts, a unique drama.
But only about half of it is really anything special. The first half is really great writing. The second half falls more into the conventional drama pattern. However, relatively speaking, it's still a really good drama.
All four characters are intelligent and have realistic and dimensional personalities.
I think many people of my generation will find likeness with Hana (lead female).
And it is written for people with brains. The characters don't explain everything they do, and they don't do ridiculously stupid things. And interestingly enough, it is the male characters in this drama who end up having breakdowns, not the females.
It's a good illustrative work on love and the question of "What exactly is love anyway?"
Half the story takes place in Korea, and half in Japan and has some really wonderful photography and some nice (though for me, emotionally flat) animation.
I felt awkward in Jin Pyo's and Hana's scenes together because they seemed kind of father-daughterish and it was weird to me that this character who's so smart about the other aspects of his life, could be so dense to the fact that the determination to possess someone is not love but an asphyxiation. Hye Young's character was by far my favorite (even though by personality I more resemble Hana) because she was strong and admirable and could foresee everything from the get-go.
It was good casting because you could tell they were actually smart people playing smart people.
It didn't have that feeling of 'phony intellect'. You know like when you watch cop/doctor shows and there are those 'characters' who walk and talk fast and act like what they're saying is really smart, but you're sitting there going "...Pfffftt."
I really loved the packaging. Neat and nothing slides around or falls out.
The soundtrack is quite nice, incorporating light acoustic indie songs with traditional drama ballads.

(1)Our Price: US$16.99List: US$22.99Save: US$6.00 (26%)Usually ships within 7 - 14 daysMay 10, 2010 not a bad deal~It was up for grabs for a mere $6. And after seeing some of the performances on the DVD I think that's the fairest price. Sometimes the lights were blaring so you couldn't see the performers, and lacked dynamics in editing.Otherwise though it was decent qaulity. The audio performances I were alright, though at times Oh Ji Eun went off-key, which was disappointing. Serengeti gave the most entertaining performances. I liked No Reply's songs as well. Of course I also enjoyed EZ Hyoung's collabs with Tearliner, that was a nice treat. ^^
For $6, not a bad deal!

Pink Elephant Vol.1 - Pink Elephant
May 10, 2010 pretty good rock albumA mix of two intense genres, punk and psychedelic rock, this album makes for a fun and energetic listen.
The strongest songs on the album are definitely tracks 3(Hitchhiker) and 4(Delusion of Persecution), but other enjoyable songs include tracks 7 (고백법), and 9 (어리다). I found myself hitting repeat on the two former tracks though.
A good balance of head-bopping electric melodies with the occasional scream thrown in. :]
Really liked it.

Seoul Electric Band Vol. 2 - Life Is Strange
(1)Our Price: US$13.99List: US$18.99Save: US$5.00 (26%)May 6, 2010 what the...??You know what's more strange? Me distinctly thinking this was a good band. Then I buy the album, and I'm so bored by track 3, I'm rocking back and forth with my hands over my ears thinking "Why am I doing this to myself?" I had only heard track 5 (서울의 봄), but I decided to take a chance on the album. Too bad I didn't know that's the only good song on this album.
Well, you know I've heard worse things than this, but this is the first time I've paid money for it, and maybe that's why I'm miffed. "Hidden" track 12 is silent for the first 6 minutes. Track 10 is almost 9 minutes long. Overall time-consuming and really boring. This is the last time I declare anyone to be 'great' before buying the album. Yeesh.
I would recommend this CD to Led Zeppelin fans and Pink Floyd fans.

(1)Our Price: US$13.99List: US$18.99Save: US$5.00 (26%)Usually ships within 7 daysApril 26, 2010 well balanced and prettyI bought this album for the single I need your love. I love EZ Hyoung's music because it just has a way of making me feel immediately in a clearer state of mind. This album has a good balance between soft balladesque songs(Everything, Floating World) and light-hearted rock songs(Beatles Cream Soup, 메탈포크쥬니어의 여름). Like his third album, Spectrum sometimes left me close to the verge of tears. Particularly track 7 (한때 우리는 작고 보드라운 꽃잎이었네), struck me right through the heart. It touched me deeply and I felt myself wanting to hear it again and again after the first listen.
Serengeti and No Reply help out with backup on many songs.
Wow, can't believe it's out of print...? Perhaps they are working on special edition?

Siamese Flowers
April 10, 2010 a good compilationInitially I bought this because I really wanted to have the song Young Romance by Oldfish and wanted to have some Tearliner songs as well. I ended loving a few artists that were new to me, like Jelly Boy and Greenwitch Resident.
A surprise I had about this collection that most all the songs are in English (the remainder in Korean) and many of the artists were non-Korean.
Even though it's the English version, I was still happy to have Young Romance on CD as well as the other Oldfish songs. The two discs overall are mellow and have a kind of old-pop feel.
If you, like me, are strapped for cash and can't decide whether to get Oldfish's album, Tearliner's album, Jelly Boy's album or Misty Blue's album, this is the collab album for you!

April 8, 2010 pure magic.Donawhale's first album, was the first Korean indie album I ever purchased. It was thanks to them that I really fell deep into the world of Korean indie. Since then, one member has left the group. But they deliver perfection again, and dare I say, this album is even better than the first!
With a sureness of who they are, each song is crafted to excellence and the music moves gracefully. Effortlessly beautiful music from start to finish. If you liked their first album, you will love their second album! Explores the light, the dark and the gray without ever being too dramatic or sensational. Absolutely wonderful. I won't say anymore, the music will speak for itself.

April 4, 2010 lovely lovely.I love Han Hee Jeong with absolution. But my bias aside, this is a wonderful album. The music is a warm, gentle embrace. Charmingly, she even plays around a little with vibrato here. There is something very honest about her songs, as if she is trying to disclose herself to you, the listener. A touching acoustic album. I also liked the fact that Kim Jong Wan of Nell joins her on 멜로디로 남아. The mixing of their vocals is lovely. Sweet, simple and sincer, these 7 tracks paint a world around you (especially when listened to on a rainy spring day). Packaging is a standard jewel case.

Pinodyne - Pish!
April 4, 2010 AWESOME.This duo is quite interesting. The album is one part happy upbeat hiphop, one part jazzy, soulful ballads. Somehow, it's all cohesive. The upbeat stuff is dancey and fun, the soulful stuff adds new dimensions to the album. I was really happily surprised. After hearing one of the dancier tunes, Best Driver, I took a chance on this album. Pinodyne really delivered! This is a highly entertaining and well balanced album. I would love to go cruising in the city to this album. Pinodyne, keep it up! 화이팅! Packaging is a standard jewel case.

This album has a kind of nostalgic feel of contemporary 90's rock and is easily likable. It will make your brain cells dance! This album will add a little sunshine to your day. My most repeated tracks were BABY BABY..., Disney Girl, and Practical Spanish. Sometimes however, the album borders on being too repetitive. It does redeem itself in the catchier songs (forementioned) but I was a little disappointed. Packaging is a standard jewel case.

This is an excellent pop album. There isn't one track to skip.
From their quirky lyrics to their upbeat melodies, this group is instantly lovable to anyone who will give them a fair listen. Cheerful and upbeat and full of whimsy, this is a group I hope will be around for a long while. After hearing/seeing Hedgehog's Dilemma, I'll Be There and Happy Birthday To Me I decided to get this album and I'm so so happy I did. I am a super fan!

(1)Our Price: US$13.99List: US$18.99Save: US$5.00 (26%)Usually ships within 7 daysApril 4, 2010 genuineWow. I love this album. Acoustic melodies and arrangements to fall in love with. Masterful and gentle minimalism that never fails to move me. The confidence that EZ Hyung has while performing is definitely embodied in his music. This is the first album of his I have purchased, but it will not be the last. Since learning about him last year, I find myself drawn more and more to his 'charms', haha. So many of the songs are so beautiful they bring me to the verge of tears (전화 most especially). With the exception of track 6, where he experiments a bit strangely with his vocals, this album is perfect. Includes a couple songs from previous albums.
This is a genuine, affective album.
One of my favorite singer-songwriters hands down.
Packaging is a standard soft case.

Son Dam Bi Vol. 1 - Type B
1 people found the following helpful
April 2, 2010 fantastic pop album!!Beginning to end, a great album! This is a what a pop album should sound like! This album is so addictive, it feels like I've just started with track 1 a minute ago and already it will be to track 10. There are no filler songs. Dam Bi's vocals are a joy to listen to. I have to admit I idolize her a little bit. She is by far my favorite solo female pop performer. I bought this album because of the lovely singles Saturday Night, Bad Boy, I'm Crazy and Invisible Person. But I love it top to bottom, all the tracks.
This is a bulky album, so you may want to consider that for storage sake. A tall softcase.
The melodies are moreover mid-90's, not really 80's but that's really a marketing error.
And my only complaint about this album is the photobook. Given a gorgeous girl like Son Dam Bi with these amazing eyes and this secret smile, I don't know why the photographer chose to flatten her out and do a bunch of uninteresting, almost amateurish photos. The elephant-seal poof and gobs of sequins hurt more than help. Dam Bi is already beautiful, she doesn't need that excessive ornamentation. Less is more. Looking forward to her future endeavors!

Taking much influence from her predecessors, Tori Amos and Bjork, she creates a sound that is delightfully nightmarish and courageous and all her own. I love her. Many thanks to Anna for mentioning her all those months ago. My favorite tracks are all of them.
Lune is abeautiful force in the world of music. I very much wish her the absolute best and look forward to more. Packaging is a standard jewel case.

Outsider Vol. 2 - Maestro
April 2, 2010 often emotive and moving hip hopI really love Outsider's rhythmic poetic lyrical style. I wish I had known about him earlier (when Soliloquist was realeased). He has a strong enigmatic quality that comes through in his words and put with music, it transports you to another place entirely. I bought this album because of the singles Youth's Confession(청춘고백) and Loner(외톨이).
My favorites on this album include City Hunter, 피에로의 눈물, and 불 만증. Maestro is a well-crafted album. Outsider is well on his way to joining the elitist ranks of artists like Drunken Tiger and Epik High, though he stands well enough on his own. Because of his new sharpened image, he is experiencing a spike in popularity. But this is a talented artist who should have been recognized long ago. Packaging is a standard soft case. Album jacket includes lyricbook and a few striking photos of Outsider himself.

Sister's Barbershop Vol. 5
April 2, 2010 A laid back albumA very easygoing album overall, It lightens up at track 5 (의외의 사실) and track 8 (인생은 금물). Also liked track 3 (아름다운 것 ), and 4 ( 작은마음). In style, Sister's Barbershop reminded me of Plastic People, but Sister's Barbershop incorporates more elements of contemporary beach music and even funk here and there. I guess it would be fair to call it extremely relaxed ska without trumpets.
If you liked Kings of Convenience's Declaration of Dependence, Plastic People's Snap, or Dringe Augh's Individually Wrapped, you will probably like this album.
At times it's a bit sleep-inducing for me, but has a way of cheering me up and filling my heart with happy thoughts. A good album.
I really really wish I could understand Korean enough to know all the lyrics.
Packaging is a standard jewel case.
The album jacket smells spicy.
I bought this album here.

April Snow (Hong Kong Version)

March 30, 2010 mood pieceThis is a mood/art movie about two people who find solace in each other through a common heartbreak. It's a very soft and sensuous movie with equal attention and delivery to both the characters. Both very beautiful people as well as easy to empathize with. The ending was as expected. However, at times the onscreen chemistry felt forced, I thought Son Ye Jin was really holding back at times which was unexpected for me because Son Ye Jin has been in all other media I've seen her in, effortless. Bae Yong Joon was captivating throughout, which was also unexpected because I have never really paid him much attention prior. The director paid a lot of attention to frames and lines and contours which aided in the aesthetic quality of this movie.
I bought this movie here. I must warn you, don't buy the VCD version, the quality was awful and the subs did not have an on/off option, and worse, neither did the dubbing.
