lovin'it (Japan Version)
March 23, 2002 UnderatedI personally liked this single. Of course this song was a bit aberrant from other songs by Amuro and that may turn some hardcore Amuro fans off. The track was done in more of a Hip-Hop/R&B style accompanied by a piano. Amuro's vocals are very good in this single and Verbal's raping is very well done. The single starts very strong with Amuro singing solo the Verbal taking a solo rap and it ends very well with a solo by Amuro. However, the reason I didn¡¦t give this single a 10 was because I felt they brought in to many voices to accompany Amuro to climax before her end solo. All of those voices were very distracting from Amuro's voice and I found it just got to cluttered. In the end you should give this song a try especially if you are a Hip-Hop fan.

March 23, 2002 Great vocals
Well first of all Amuro's vocals are exceptional in this single. Now that we got that out of the way now on to the rest.... the one thing that I think could have been done better for the main track is the background music. It felt a tad too "synthesized" for the type of vocal's presented by Amuro and for the type of song it was. Also, even though the piano accompanied mix (track 3) was good I thought TK's piano was a bit flat which takes away from Amuro's exceptional vocals. However, overall I believe this is a good single but there were some things that could have been done better.

July 19, 2001 Final Distance is AMAZING but...
Well I have to say that Hikaru has done it again. The last time I was this impressed with one of her songs was when I heard a little song called "First Love", and I sincerly mean that. The vocals are some of Hikaru's best to date and the beat/instruments flow perfectly with the song. However... the lyrics are taken from Distance so I wasnt blown away with the lyrics when I first heard them but they are still good nontheless. Secondly, I didnt enjoy the remixes of Distance on this single, Im not saying they were bad but I didnt care much for them. And finally since I already own her "Distance" album tracks 4 and 5 go almost unplayed. However, when placed into perspective, this is a "single" and all that counts is the featured song, and it will, without a doubt, leave you breathless.

She has more of a R&B Pop style with American west coast influences, while Ayumi and Utada (more ayumi) are core Jpop and Im quite confused as to why people associate Mai K's music with theirs. Anyways, this album definitly is different from her first album in that it has a slower, lower toned scheme throughout the album (which I liked but may turn some core jpop fans off). I would buy this album if you are a Mai K fan or like R&B/Pop, however if you are looking for core Jpop and have never heard Mai K's music then look elsewhere cause this album is not for you.

Stand Up (Japan Version)
April 13, 2001 Interesting songI got this music video about 2 weeks ago and all I have to say is that the song is... interesting.. but in a good way. It has an old time, up beat, carefree american band tune with Kuraki doing vocals(has she gotten taller? anyways) This is definitly VERY different from all of her previously released music that some people who like core j-pop may not like. Still I HIGHLY recommend giving it a try.

Among the standouts on the album are 1.Wait and See(1), 2.Can you keep a secret(2), 3.Distance(3), 4.Eternally(6), 5.Addicted to you(remix 7), 6.For You(8), and 7.Time Limited(11). However, if you are like me and been keeping up with Utada then you have already heard 5/7 of these songs. Still, this is a very strong album and better than her first album if you look beyond this flaw and look at the songs themselves. Utada's got some magnificent talent and this album is a must for ALL jpop lovers, keep it up Hikki!

March 31, 2001 Great album
I would have given this album a 9 1/2 because I thought "Genius 2000" (which I gave a 10) was slightly better than this album. In this album her tone is not as mature as in Genius as she seemed to slightly lean back to her jpop roots. I was a bit surprised to hear english songs on this album but they seemed to fit in very well with the other songs on the album.

March 31, 2001 Namie has returned
I think that this is by far her best overall album. "I have never seen" simply blew me away when I first heard it, and the rest of the songs on this album are top tier. Her songs and tone are much more mature than her previous albums. I would recommend this album to anyone who loves jpop or wants to get into jpop.
