June 6, 2002 An ambitious album Customer Review Rated Bad 6 - 6 out of 10
In this album, l'arc does what they do best, making great pop songs. The only exceptions are "farewell" and "the fourth ave cafe". Most of these songs are catchy at first, but loses its momentum after repetitive listenings (especially lies and truth and caress of venus). The only two outstanding pop tunes are "flower" and track 8. "flower" truly distinguishes hyde's music style and increased l'arc's popularity; track 8 is just an awesome catchy pop tune that you cna't get it out of your head.

June 6, 2002 Good Buy Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
Not my favorite, but then again, music is all personal preference. The first song is my favourite of the whole album; it's just so calm and so sad when one listens to it (great combination). The other songs are mostly catchy pop tunes. The most oustanding one must be "dive to blue". It's got a great melody and beat to it, and it just makes one want to dance and sing at the same time. Others like "what is love" and "driver's high" aren't bad as well, but they can't quite reach the level of "dive to blue" had given me. "Cradle" is definitely one of the most interesting l'arc song in a long time. It shows so much emotion in that song (at least I felt). Recommended if you're a more pop tune person.

June 6, 2002 One of the best Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
One of their best work is this album, ray. Personally I love their darker pieces of music (like "forbidden lover" and "lose control"). As the group indicated in their interview, this album was intended to be a much more darker album than ark (which is ok in my book) and therefore is one of my favourites of all time. Most noticeable songs:"shi no hai" (above avg. pop/ROCK song), "honey" (good pop song), "snow drop" (one of their best pop songs ever, tied with "dive to blue"), "l'heure" (wouldnt call it masterpiece, but yukihiro shows his talent for creating this mood that you would most definitely feel), "lost control" (one of l'arc's best work), "trick" (catchy rock song), and ends with the great "the silver shining" (the mood....so relaxed and so calm, i like it).

June 6, 2002 Great, but not for first time listeners Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
If you're a big fan of l'arc en ciel, like me, then you probably already heard of most of their music in original form. If you don't even know who they are, then (take my word for it) DO NOT buy this album without listening to the orginal songs. Why? because this album is definitely not everyone's cup of tea. The tracks were remixed by the least popular member of l'arc, yukihiro (I know a lot of ppl who dislike his music such as "l'heure" and "trick"; however, I disagree). If l'arc was meant to have different music styles, then why can't yukihiro brings his own brand of style into the band? Anyways, this album is for open minded l'arc music lovers ONLY. If you only dig the pop side of l'arc, then forget about this one.

    June 6, 2002 It's OK Customer Review Rated Bad 6 - 6 out of 10
I bought this album for the single "mermaid", and unfortunately, other songs do not quite match the level of greatness as "mermaid". I find a lot of 'fillers' in this album. It's not necessarilly that GLAY doesn't sound good, it's just that I think they could have refined their songs better. Take track 1 for example, the melody is great, but once it gets to the chorus, the whole song just gets lame. Also, track 14, the beginning of the song sounded so promising, but once teru started singing...all fell apart... The only songs I liked other than "mermaid" is "viva viva viva" and track 6. Conclusion: you're going to buy it if you're a hardcore GLAY fan, so it doesn't really matter what I say, but if you're looking for a good album, look else where.

May 16, 2002 Great Album Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
This album is really good. Every song in here really stands out on its own, although I wish there were more songs in the album (I mean com'on...only ten songs?); if there were more songs such as WHITE SONG, I would like this album even more. The only negative aspect of this album would be the ridiculous price; I guess this is the price I'd have to pay for supporting Japanese artists.
