１９８８年のソウル五輪ウェイト・リフティング種目で、金メダル目前の怪我により選手生命を断たれ、無気力な生活を送っていたジボンは、ひょんなことから田舎の女子中学校ウェイト・リフティング部監督に就任。ウェイト・リフティングに嫌気がさしていた彼だったが、少女たちの懸命な姿に心を打たれて本格的な指導を開始する。最初はまるでやる気のなかったジボンだったが、少女たちの魅力溢れるキャラクターと、純粋なひたむきさに打たれて、鬼コーチに変身。新設チームは着実に実力を付けていき、ついにはオリンピックまで目標とするようになるが、ジボンと少女たちには大きな試練が襲いかかる…。
