Ryojoku no Ame (First Press Limited Edition)(Japan Version)
September 18, 2006 Haunting yet DroningThis song is truly marvelous. Listen to the intro... this doesn't sound like the Dir en grey we know, not even the Dir en grey of late. The song's lyrics have no repetition, and he sings them beautifully and whisperingly amid the menacing vibe the guitars give off, sometimes to the point of being inaudible, which is really the only thing wrong with the song. I must say it's inferior to CS in some respects though, and the live tracks... better than the ones on CS but still, I wanted something more. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
Hello (Normal Edition)(Japan Version)
July 3, 2006 Pierrot's greetingsI liked Hello. The guitars and drums are put into overdrive, and it is a lot smoother than a good part of Freeze. The chorus seems pop-inflected per usual, but it's more serious. Utopia is pretty much a vapid throwaway track. The intro sounds like they milked Neogrotesque's intro too much, which worked well for Performance, but not here. Do I recommend Hello? Not really, but if you are a big Pierrot fan (this is the only single of their's not on their collection), like to be legit and can spare it, go ahead. Did you find this review helpful? May 21, 2006 Nice, L'arc... Nice.
I must say this is the first album of their's I've heard. That said, I enjoyed it in its entirety on the first trips through. A good number of the tracks were easy to get into, and a few of those held a surface charm that faded away in time. I still like most of the singles, especially Jiyuu (which I liked from the beginning) and Killing Me (which took me time to get hooked). I admire that they included the live track at the end, too.
So, if you buy this, I'm almost certain you'll find something to like, but there is a good amount of empty material on here nonetheless.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

(3)Our Price: US$37.25Usually ships within 7 daysOctober 26, 2005 Indies reinventedI haven't heard the old versions of most of the songs on here, but they are done extremely well. While Kirito's vocals are as always easily accessible, my favorite element is Takeo's drumming; it's loud and complex, I think he put more effort into it than on ID Attack. Some of the tracks don't stand well to repeated listens, but I'm glad they released this. More bands ought to release things like this. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
CLEVER SLEAZOID (Japan Version)
October 25, 2005 Clever Sleazoid is alright.Sure, it is most definitely not Dir en grey's best with Kyo's best lyrics, nor is it even that good. What I do know is that the song does have it's strong points, and it's a fast crazy song.
If there's one thing I'm disappointed with, it's that it's NOT their heaviest song whatsoever (that title still belongs to Pink Killer, especially at the end). The live routine I'm disappointed in, especially when a non-album single-only track or two could be showcased.
I liked this single overall; though it cannot compare to their earlier work.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
FREEZE (Normal Edition)(Japan Version)
August 19, 2005 Catchyness is the name of the game. This is not bad by any means. It is fairly groovy, but it doesn't sound like Pierrot. Still, it's a great thing the songs are the length they are, and they are short bursts of energy. I would recommend it if you can't stand four-minute-plus length songs. Id Attack (Japan Version)

August 16, 2005 Diverse and inspiredThis is Pierrot's first album I have heard. I thought it was kind of weak at first at some points, but I gave it time, and it really grew on me. All of it, from the opener to the closer, is well done.
Also, the way the pictures are done in the lyrics booklet are both artistic and strange. The eye on the cover freaks me out whenever I look at it!Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This)
