March 2, 2006 Oh noGackt stopped sounding fresh with Diabolos. This isn't in the least bit cured. It has some new things but his voice is still rough and the music is still basic. GACKT!!! Wake up! Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
THE CIRCLE (Japan Version)

October 29, 2005 Yet againEver since "Loose", B'z has really picked up as one of the better bands of Japan. But I think that the last three albums, Green, Big Machine, and now The Circle, have been the biggest explosion of good work from them in their entire career. This new album has not broken the pattern the way I felt Eleven did. It is the most artistic thing they've done in a while, with melodies that play upon foreign structures, including a song written entirely in English.... that ROCKS.
If you like B'z, this is definately a good one. If you liked Green, especially, this will delight you.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
March 3, 2005 Best Lesbian Move I've Seen
As one who has become tired of the cliches-to-escape-cliches that we find in most overly artsy films of gay and lesbian topics, I was very stunned by the many levels - and the depth of each - that this movie had to offer. The flashbacks work perfectly to keep your mind on the way the past affects each moment, a trick which could not have been accomplished by showing the film chronologically. Each character is meticulously fleshed out, even characters who have about two scenes in the whole piece jump right out at you (in particular, Flavia's parants.) The husband who Flavia cheats on is not a shadowy boorish man, he is someone with a very deep personality and a solid actor to give it to us. He isn't seperate from the story, he's right in the middle of it. But what got me most was the acting, especially on the part of Josie Ho.
I won't spoil the ending. But it is, for a rare instance in gay/lesbian films, SATISFYING. This and Bound are now the only two movies of that ilk that I approve of. And I'm picky.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
ARCADIA (Japan Version)
October 22, 2004 Very niceI heard this recently. I cant give it a 10 because yeah, its repetitive in parts. But it really does make up for it. The style is definately Another Story, but it's also gone back to the roots a little, under the surface. They used to remind me of coffee shop blues and swing, and several songs here do that quite a bit, especially BlackJack. Dolls is pretty and a little wierd, which makes it my favourite ;) Athens is good too if you're into instrumentals, but I wouldnt suggest listening to it as you do other things. Its kind of complicated and will ruin your attention span. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This)
