【朱蒙】主要描述高句麗創始者朱蒙的故事，本劇把之前只停留在神話故事的朱蒙，憑藉作者的想像力把它寫成人間的故事。在【朱蒙】中的解慕漱(古朝鮮遺民英雄)是古朝鮮的游民和英雄，並將和作為夫餘王的金蛙(全光烈飾)和柳花夫人(吳妍秀飾)展開三人之間的三角關係，並且在朱蒙神話中因其他王子們的嫉妒而被趕出的部份，和上天的幫助下渡江的富有神話意義和非現實的東西將被刪除。
柳花夫人與解慕漱一見鍾情，聽到解慕漱戰死的消息沉浸在悲傷中，後來成為金蛙王的妻子，生下解慕漱的兒子朱蒙，仍為夫餘國的第三王子，朱蒙在不知身世的情況下長大，在金蛙王的元配元后(甄美莉飾)和其兒子帶素及英蒲的仇視下，朱蒙養成膽小怕事、慵懶無志的性格，以盡量避免受到元后母子的迫害，但元后後母子對柳花母子的仇視和陷害卻沒有絲毫減少，終於在一次陷害中朱蒙幾近喪命，徹底明白王兄決不容許她們母子存在，而柳花亦始向朱蒙剖白表示希望朱蒙成為夫餘王，成為民族的英雄，朱蒙始覺醒自己不可避免的責任，勤學武術，重新訓練自己。
另一方面，朱蒙在被帶素二人陷害出宮後，意外為呼延陀郡長之女召西奴所救，召西奴雖然女兒身，但志比天高，希望終於布一日獲得父親完全信任，掌理商團，朱蒙向召西奴坦言王子身份，召西奴卻沒有相信，及後一次意外，朱蒙不惜生命勇救召西奴，而帶素卻又對召西奴一見鍾情，而應該早已墮崖死亡的解慕漱原來並未死亡，一直被人囚禁於夫餘部族神宮的秘密囚牢，早於二十年前，神女斷言解慕漱的存在會為夫餘帶來無窮的危難，本來二足的象徵夫餘的鳳鳥卻因為解慕漱的存在成為三足，三足鳥背後代表著什麼重大玄機呢……？
