The answer to that question lies in Judgement of an Assassin, an exciting 1977 martial arts film directed by Sun Zhong, the man behind such varied Shaw Brothers productions as The Proud Youth, The Deadly Breaking Sword, and Big Bad Sis. Superstar actor David Keung (a.k.a. David Chiang, from All Men Are Brothers and The Boxer from Shantung) plays Heh Mo Li, a young man who finds himself struggling to protect his beautiful girlfriend Shih Ming Chu (Jing Li, from The Anonymous Heroes and When The Clouds Roll By) from several dastardly villains!

Meanwhile, this thrilling action film also follows the exploits of an unlikely elderly couple, Cha Hung (Ku Feng, from One Armed Swordsman and Peking Opera Blues) and Hua Szu Ku (Wang Lai). The two of them are accomplished martial artists in their own right and longtime lovers to boot, but for some reason, have remained unmarried even so late in life. Through the course of the film, swordsman Cha finally comes to understand the real reason why Ku has stayed with him all these years, despite the fact that he has made no promise of marriage. Amidst these two character-driven stories, there's also a brutal clan battle at play, one that revolves around the prosecution of a man thought to be guilty of multiple rapes and even murders! With fight choreography from acclaimed action director Tang Chia, Judgement of an Assassin is a motion picture jam-packed with plenty of creative martial arts sequences, and thanks to Sun Zhong's sharp direction, it's also a kung fu film that retains a gripping emotional core!
