Strictly a novelty item Customer Review Rated Bad 5 - 5 out of 10
Andy Lau's 1987 debut demonstrates just how far he's come in the past 16 years. His vocals have consistently improved over the years; while he may never challenge Jacky Cheung as the God of Song, since the late 90's he's come pretty darn close.

It's unsurprising that this disc failed to move many units however. The tunes are insipid, and ten years behind the times. Lau's vocals, while hinting at the promise of the Heavenly King he would one day become, are fairly bland and emotionless, relying on digital manipulation to appeal to the ear.

For die-hard Lau fans or those who simply wish to trace the roots of the Heavenly King, this album comes marginally recommended. As a novelty item, it scores; as a musical release, one would be better served using it as a coaster.

Before IPS/PolyGram, there was EMI Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
After Capital Artists, he was at EMI for a few years, then IPS/PolyGram. His IPS/PolyGram years (1990-1992)was his best. It shot him up the fame ladder. I haven't got this particular CD, but according to the first review, I believe it's great. Capital Artists was a truly Chinese music company, not a foreign enterprise like EMI, etc. It's so sorry to see it gone. It definitely was a launching pad for many of today's top pop singers.

Great album. This is Andy Lau's first album & he sung for Capitol records before he went to PolyGram in 1990. Most of the album is great! Pick it up while you still can! -OllyVic-
