Love Kahi (CD bits)

There’s no doubt that After School’s Kahi as put strong emotional spirit into this disk and photo booklet, and achieving in its completion a very fine piece of herself. (Well, as far as Kahi can be herself). Kahi's lovely emotion and sincere enthusiasm for this mini album shows so much, you can’t fail to love her for it. Kahi, yes she’s sexy, but she's childlike and as a heart of gold in the main, and I admire how Kahi really wants to please others with her music as much as herself. As for Kahi’s album I’ve meant to review it for some time, but wanted to get this Taiwan edition, to mention the DVD bits (see below). But I’ve been delaying it! In fact, yesterday I got a weird coincidence coming home from work, seeing a soft Caribbean drinks can on the floor of a bus with KA on it! Really!!! (No BS!!!) I was also thinking about reviewing at that time! So, something wants me to review this album right now, maybe!!? Haha! Well, to mention the music first, I found the main dance song “Come Back You Bad Person” quite strong and uplifting with a touching beseeching vocal lead, alongside the sensibilities of a techno dance beat and distorted vocal. Interesting theme, too (see below on the video). I also liked second song “One Love” a touching RnB styled ballad with a swooping middle and Kahi’s lovely sweet singing (especially the ‘I Love you, don’t waste time’ bit). I really like this song. The third song is a pure easy listening ballad, but general and generic really. You’ve heard lots of love ballads like this! If you’re in love and all romantic, though, this could make more sense. “Rollercoaster” returns to dance beat mode (Scandinavian writers), with a quite decent chorus and melody. Overall though, I mostly liked the first two songs. |

Love Kahi (DVD bits)

I first bought the limited autographed Korean edition (bless you again, Kahi, for you’re signature). But this Taiwan version is almost a straight replica of the Korean edition (paper type, size, cover, band around the bottom), apart from the added DVD. In fact, you could have a ‘spot the difference’ competition, they’re both so (well, almost) identical. You do, though, also get an added Taiwanese supplement lyric booklet for the Taiwan version. The DVD features the MV, Kahi’s Special Comment and a Making Of. The Making Of is Kahi’s booklet photo shoot with the “CBYBP” song played in the background, but Kahi’s talk to camera intro as no English subs unfortunately. As for the MV, it’s another ‘esoteric’ type with Kahi as two versions of herself; Kahi dressed black (KA) and Kahi dressed white (HI) and her ‘bad person’ (black), her ‘devil’ inspired siren ‘sexualised’ towards the profane. Kahi’s two black and white dance scene versions cross cut back and forth. This B&W dance theme coincides with the chessboard symbolism, black and white angel wings, Virgin and Madonna and Lucifer, good and evil stuff you get in other K-pop videos. I’d like to say Kahi’s video is original, but it’s another already ‘pre-moulded concept’ type, where originality isn’t the point, as the video is based on established symbolism. But it’s good, Kahi’s very sexy in it and, I'm not too fussed about the symbolism….I love Kahi for who she is! I certainly loved Kahi’s recent AS performance on new Korean TV show “Show Show Show” in her military KHAkI trousers. Hahaha! Yes, Kahi very Lara Croft! ;D By heck, Kahi bending over backwards, as well! OoO!! Careful, Kahi! Anyway, if you love K-pop this is definitely recommended and a must for AS fans! |

So I just received my mini album today and it exceeded my expectations. I was expecting a normal CD like all the other mini albums but this was different. :) It was like a book with around 15+ pages that had pictures and stories which were interesting although I can't read Korean... Also, all 4 of her songs are really well produced and I'm glad I ordered this CD because Kahi's mini album was excellent in terms of lyrics and music. |

PlayGirlz have waited so long for this album XD You can definitely see the level of maturity and talent that Park KaHi possesses from the self-written songs such as the title track "Come Back You Bad Person" which has been receiving mixed reactions from fans because it's SO different and not like the typical KPop songs we hear today (which is why PlayGirlz can pump their fists in the air and holler with pride). This album, containing two ballads and 2 up-beat songs, is definitely worth it. I personally was very moved by the lyrics that KaHi penned down from personal/life experience. I'm so glad I purchased a copy! Just waiting for it to arrive XD @patrick kao: YesAsia is known to sell the album and the posters separately. If you intend on buying from here, than you'll be buying two separate items. As for the autographed version, it's temporarily out of stock and I think the date shown for its release is for those who've already purchased it. There's a link to click to register for the list in case they have a second batch of autographed albums, though, so you could sign up for it and maybe you'll get your hands on one =) |
